Our mission is to empower Native land stewards in the protection of their resources and the planning for a sustainable future through data-driven support. Notably, Native American communities frequently encounter significant disparities in access to reliable data, which impedes their ability to advocate for their land and resources effectively. Addressing this challenge is vital, as the well-being of our ecosystems ultimately affects us all. Together, we can bridge this gap and drive impactful change for the future of Native lands. #NativeStewards #DataForChange #SustainableFuture #EquityInData

Great news for Bay Area communities! The San Francisco Bay Conservation and Development Commission (BCDC) announced that the Regional Shoreline Adaptation Plan (RSAP) has been adopted! 🎉 The RSAP will guide the creation of coordinated, locally-planned sea level rise adaptation actions that work together to meet regional goals. After two years of stakeholder engagement, community workshops, and public comments, BCDC adopted the RSAP as required by SB 272. Coastal Quest is thrilled for this pivotal milestone in BCDC’s history that will help pave the way for how cities and practitioners can coordinate efforts and take action for a more resilient shoreline. Now’s the time for communities across the Bay to make progress. Local jurisdictions within BCDC's shoreline will have until January 2034 to complete Subregional Plans according to the Guidelines in the RSAP. Learn more about the RSAP and how local jurisdictions will need to get involved by visiting https://lnkd.in/gtbNs586

Have you ever taken a risk as an organization? Created a strategy, developed a plan, got buy-in and support, and then hoped it worked? That's what we are doing. We are pivoting away from an annual Gala and instead hosting an event this fall we are calling ReGreen Minnesota. We are doing this for a reason: to welcome anyone who wants to take conservation action and make a tangible impact on Minnesota's outdoors. * Instead of tickets priced at over $100 a piece, we are selling them for $40 a person. * Instead of a fancy, seated affair, we are throwing a casual bash where you don't need to buy a new cocktail dress (unless you want to!). * Instead of exclusive, we want to be inclusive. * We'll continue to be informative! From clean water to pollinators, continuous living cover to tree canopies, volunteer events to goats: we'll share what Great River Greening is doing to make an immediate and positive impact on Minnesota's land, for the benefit of people, plants, wildlife, soil and water. Join us and let's ReGreen Minnesota together. #regreen

Mangrove forests are vital ecosystems, sequestering carbon, nurturing marine life, and shielding communities from storms. Each hectare can provide a community with significant economic benefits — but restoration projects are often stymied by insecure land tenure for the farmers, fishers, and other villagers who call the land home. By strengthening local land rights, we can safeguard these critical ecosystems and the livelihoods they support. Read more: https://refore.st/3KaBdWJ

💻 Our updated National Barriers Programme dashboard: tinyurl.com/attu636s 👇 Tarmonbarry weir on the Shannon. It, & structures like it, delay or stop fish migrations throughout #Ireland. This can have significant effects on the long-term viability of fish populations, potentially leading to localised extinctions. 🚦 IFI’s new barriers mitigation division is being established, and staffed.

The #GlobalForestReview's Indigenous and Community Forests indicator has been updated 👉 https://gfw.global/3Yuu5fX Using spatial data and peer-reviewed literature, this indicator aims to monitor the extent of forestland that is customarily held by Indigenous Peoples and other forest-dependent local communities, including Afro-descendant communities. It also contains data on the extent to which the forestland rights of Indigenous Peoples and local communities are recognized and/or secured. Explore all the indicators on World Resources Institute's living report: https://gfw.global/4fxgmLq #ForestGuardians
