The Gift of Rest: Why Christmas Breaks Should Be Non-Negotiable As the holiday season nears, it’s disheartening to see some organizations prioritizing work over employee well-being by refusing to break for Christmas. This is a time to celebrate with family, recharge, and reflect—a necessary pause in our fast-paced lives. Denying employees this time isn’t just about schedules; it’s about disregarding their need for balance and humanity. Companies must realize that: Rest isn’t a luxury, it’s a necessity: Employees who take breaks come back stronger and more focused. Holidays strengthen morale: Moments with loved ones fuel motivation and happiness. Work isn’t everything: A team that’s cared for outside the office will give their best within it. This holiday season, let’s advocate for empathy in leadership. People first, profits second. After all, a refreshed and valued workforce is the greatest gift a company can give itself. #EmployeeWellBeing #Leadership #HolidayBreak

🎄 Inclusive Celebrations: Respecting Everyone’s Beliefs and Preferences 🎉 The holiday season is a time for connection, celebration, and showing appreciation—but it’s also a time to embrace the diversity of our teams. Not everyone celebrates the same way, and as leaders, creating an inclusive environment is key to fostering respect and belonging. Here’s how to make your celebrations meaningful for all: ✅ Recognise Diversity: Be mindful that not everyone celebrates Christmas or other traditional holidays. Acknowledge and respect a range of beliefs, traditions, and preferences. ✅ Offer Flexibility: Give employees the choice to opt in or out of activities without pressure or judgment. ✅ Think Beyond Food & Décor: Consider dietary preferences, cultural sensitivities, and inclusive language in invitations and event themes. ✅ Celebrate Achievements, Not Just Holidays: Focus on team accomplishments as a unifying theme, which everyone can appreciate. ✅ Provide Options: Offer a mix of festive and non-festive activities, and ensure events are accessible for all team members. ✅ Encourage Feedback: Ask for input when planning events to ensure your team feels heard and valued. Inclusive celebrations aren’t just about avoiding offence—they’re about creating a workplace where everyone feels they belong. This season, let’s celebrate what makes us unique while coming together as a team. ✨ How does your workplace foster inclusivity during the holidays? Holiday parties are fading: The traditional corporate holiday bash is falling out of fashion as younger workers opt for more meaningful and activity-filled, less alcohol-saturated festivities. A new Harris Poll of 1,238 employed adults, out today, finds only 48% of workplaces now hold regular, annual, in-person holiday parties..... Companies are also increasingly excluding spouses from holiday parties, with only 32% inviting plus-ones this year, down from 53% in 2021. The shift is driven by cost-cutting, a desire for more team-building opportunities, and a preference among employees to keep their professional and personal lives separate. https://lnkd.in/ehhZMVmH

Why do so many companies in the US insist on staying open between Christmas and New Year’s? As we count down 5️⃣ more days until Christmas, the holidays are in full swing filled with joy, family, and festivities. How much meaningful work gets done between Christmas and New Year’s? For most, this week is a blur of wrapping up gifts, spending time with loved ones, or simply wishing for a chance to rest. Should companies consider shutting down during this time? Employees could recharge, spend time with family, and start the new year refreshed. By embracing rest, employee would likely see a happier, more energized workforce come January. Isn’t that a win for everyone? What do you think?
