For #FoodWasteActionWeek check out these initiatives from Dr. Oetker that help fighting food waste: 🚯 Our Dr Oetker test kitchen develops recipes in such a way that no leftovers, such as a quarter cup of cream or half an apple, are left in the fridge. If there are leftovers, one should be able to store them properly and use them in one of the next cooking or baking occassions.🧑🍳 🚯 Our aim is to better explain to the consumer the difference between “use by” (expiry date) and “preferably use by/preferably before” (best before date). That is why many products in our Snack Friends range carry the words “OFTEN GOOD AFTER”.🥜 🚯 cameo spa started a campaign in 2021 to motivate consumers to use bruised fruit for e.g. jam instead of throwing it away.🍐 🚯 In our Dr. Oetker online shop in Switzerland, our consumers can "save" products whose best-before date has expired - they receive them at half price.🤑 Find out how we are constantly working on minimizing food waste in our production sites and warehouses in our Dr. Oetker Stories: https://lnkd.in/e3kASxZC What is your best tip against food waste?🗑️ Tell us in the comments!⤵️

Would you like to save money and reduce food waste from your upcoming holiday meals? Planning the perfect amount of food for your party can significantly reduce waste and ensure everyone leaves satisfied. As a general guideline, adults typically consume around one pound of food, while children aged 10 and under eat about half a pound. To right-size your recipes, start by multiplying the number of adult guests by one pound and the number of children by half a pound. This will give you a rough estimate of the total food needed. Next, consider the variety of dishes you plan to serve. The more options available, the less of each individual dish you'll require. For instance, if you have multiple appetizers, main courses, and sides, you can proportionally reduce the quantity of each item. This approach not only minimizes waste but also maximizes the culinary experience for your guests, offering them a delightful array of flavors without excess. Remember, careful planning is key to a successful, eco-friendly event!

Earth Day - let’s celebrate our beautiful planet and pledge to protect it today and every day. Be the change we need in the world. Every change no matter how small does make a difference. Do you have a leftover night? I have a container in the fridge with things that need to be eaten quickly. Cooking wise we just go with it. So on the Deehan menu tonight I served up a ‘can you guess’ veggie chilli, a quick blitz tomato soup with some forgotten about tomatoes and left over passatta and uneaten bread rolls from Saturday BBQ. Lastly a mushroom omelette. Then fruit salad for dessert. So it won’t win any Michelin stars but it does reduce food waste and all got eaten. We also now compost any veg peelings too! #avoidingfoodwaste #eatlessmeat #composting #plantbasedmeals Fact! On average, each person in the UK wastes around 70 kg of food per year, which is equivalent to 140 meals.Together, we can create a greener, healthier future for generations to come. 🌎💚
