As a Cyber Champion & SME Relationship Manager at Westpac I can say with all certainty that the SCAMMERS have started . Personally I have had Two Microsoft “your access expires today “ (with links)scam emails in the last week & reports from clients of a WESTPAC IMPERSONATION Scam on the basis of “ we have detected a suspicious transaction on your account via your telephone banking “ where the scammer is making clients believe they are from the banks frauds team - they ask you to download a link (Westpac will not ask you to do this) and then proceeded to try to ask for codes / and share your screen (NEVER EVER DO THIS) ….. if you have a scam or suspect a scam 1. Calmly state this doesn’t feel right and you will contact your bank or relationship manager (Be mindful the scammer May give you a bodgy phone number and reference number to help you with this — PS. It’s not Westpac and it’s apart of the scam) . Hang up and call Westpac via your Internet Banking app , Click to chat , in Branch , contact your relationship manager or call 132032 for personal or 132 142 Business, to report and provide you further guidance 2. Put the details in writing and email hoax@westpac.com.au also to report it… These scams are designed to Catch you off guard - make you Panic 🫨- and aim to mislead / manipulate you . My recommendation - 🛑 STOP- press nothing (links- keystrokes ) - TAKE A BREATH (slow the panic reaction) - LISTEN to your Gut & logic instincts and follow the above mentioned steps ! Finally also refer to the Westpac Website and search Scams .. a wealth of information is available to assist you including “latest scams detials” , checklists & much more . 🦹🦹♂️ be a cyber safe super hero this festive season & wishing you all the best for 2025 ! 🦸🦸🏻♀️🦸♂️
