Due to the pandemic, conservative estimates exhibit that there were 10 billion fewer passengers since 2019 than the industry planned for, which of course had tremendous knock-on effects for airlines and technology providers alike. The revenue lost here would have financed the investment in #Offermanagement #Ordermanagement #Settle #Deliver (OOSD) solutions. Early indications are that the technology vendors are looking to recover a share of benefit from OOSD transitions in the future of around forty cents per Passenger Boarded. Day 1 of #T2RLEngage 2024 has come to a close and what a day! To kick things off, Richard Clarke, CEO T2RL shared his market update, including T2RL PB projections for 2024 and some provocative thoughts on the trends and challenges in moving to #OOSD systems. Alf Sagen, SAS - Scandinavian Airlines spoke about the company’s journey from administration to becoming the most punctual and “customer-obsessed” airline in Europe. Sabre Corporation and Virgin Australia were on stage to talk through their exciting new partnership, demonstrating a clear commitment to be an early mover towards Offer/Order with #SabreMosaic. Sarosh Waghmar, Spotnana spoke about his colourful past which involved accumulating 48 million frequent flyer points & how that led to Spotnana, who are providing a unique value proposition by directly connecting #PSS and #TMCs, and giving airlines the ability to be a white label TMC. A panel session featuring Hawaiian Airlines, Branchspace - digital reinvented, Protect Group and Oman Air tackled the question ‘Are Airlines Really That Special?’ They said Offer/Order is a better way to retail but that doesn’t make it easier to serve. In a Keynote featuring OAG & Dohop we learned “As interline has become more mainstream, we’re seeing more interest in the space such as alternative modes of transport like Air + Rail.” Kristian Gjerding, CellPoint Digital stated that The Future of Offer Order is the Unified Basket Experience, for the user to select Hotel, Air, Ground Transport - and checkout. British Airways and Amadeus shared their new journey to deliver the airline’s strategic goals via #AmadeusNevio. A panel session on ‘The Challenge of Building the Future’ with PROS, Cathay Pacific, Virgin Australia and CitizenPlane answered the question…how far away are we from a full working Offer/Order solution? ATPCO’s keynote shed light on the latest successes and insights in the world of #DynamicOffers. Whilst T2RL’s own Ian Luck hosted an airline case study with TPConnects Technologies’ Kristiaan van Dijken to discuss their NDC workings with Qatar Airways. Practical advice and insight on #NDC was shared by Barbara Moreno, Accelya Group and George Bryan, Hawaiian Airlines. A lively panel debate around "The Rise of the Machines" - AI and ML in the airline commercial stack - included 3Victors, International Airlines Group (IAG) and VWV, whilst a panel session attended by Accenture, Hitit, CopaAirlines and IATA tackled the "best of breed' versus "single vendor" contract debate. "The Challenge of Building the Future" debated how ready vendors are for the move to Offer/Order, including panelists from CitizenPlane, Cathay Pacific and PROS. In our last panel of the day panellists explored how NDC took much longer than anybody thought. They said the reason for this was due to the lack of collaboration but with #OOSD, we are in a much better place. Roll on day 2!
