This Diwali, Light a Lamp in Someone Else’s Life As the festival of Diwali approaches, homes everywhere are brightened with the soft glow of lamps and the warmth of togetherness. For many, it’s a time of joy, celebration, and abundance. But for countless street vendors and small artisans, it’s a season of uncertainty and struggle. These are the people who bring the very essence of Diwali into our homes—the humble vendor who sells diyas, the artisans who craft beautiful handmade decor, the small sweet shop owners who prepare delicacies with love. For them, every sale during this festival counts, often determining whether they can provide for their families or not. This Diwali, let’s remember that we hold the power to make a difference. Instead of choosing big brands and mass-produced goods, let’s visit the local market and buy directly from those who need it most. With every diya you purchase from a small vendor, every handmade lantern you buy, you’re not just acquiring a product, you’re lighting up someone’s life. Help make this Diwali a celebration for everyone. Your small act of kindness can bring light to a struggling vendor’s home. Let’s spread the true spirit of the festival—hope, kindness, and support for those who need it most. After all, isn’t that what the festival of lights is all about? 🌟 #SupportSmallBusinesses #Diwali2024 #KindnessMatters #FestivalOfLights #SupportLocalVendors

Today, as we celebrate Diwali, the Festival of Lights - a festival we all know for its radiant lamps and shimmering lights - I invite you to reflect on the light within each of us and the boundless promise of new beginnings we all carry with us. Diwali has, for centuries, symbolized the triumph of light over darkness, hope over despair, and kindness over malice. But it’s not just about lighting lamps; it’s also about illuminating our lives with a commitment to bring warmth, joy, and purpose to every corner of our shared world. This Diwali, let’s consider what it means to bring light and joy - not as an abstract ideal, but as a conscious practice that touches every person and space we encounter. In a world that’s increasingly complex and sometimes isolating, a collective promise to light the way forward feels more vital than ever. Each of us holds sources of light - whether rooted in our values, our resilience, our humility, our curiosity, or our compassion. When we choose to channel this light, extending kindness where it’s least expected, nurturing relationships that might otherwise drift, we transform not only our lives but also brighten the world around us. Diwali’s essence lies in a simple yet powerful idea: one lamp can ignite many, and each small flame defies the darkness. 🙂 A very happy and joyous Diwali to each and everyone of you 🕯️ 🪔 🎇 #Diwali, #FestivalOfLights, #NewBeginnings, #Resilience, #Connection, #PersonalGrowth, #Community #ManuSharma #ManuOttawa

The True Essence of Diwali: Everyone knows it, but everyone overlooks this! It's Diwali on the calendars and everyone is so busy preparing for the festival. Preparing for Diwali, we often focus on the outer celebrations, lighting Diyas, decorating homes, and sharing sweets. And that's great. Seeing the beauty, everything shining bright, and leaving no space for darkness is pleasing. But it's also important to think that Diwali also has a deep real message, a lesson we sometimes overlook in the outer decorations during this festival. Diwali is a journey from darkness to light, a celebration of the inner transformation we all are fighting for in different ways in our lives. Just as a single Diya lights up the night, each of us has an inner spark capable of bringing clarity, warmth, and new purpose to our lives. 📅This Diwali, let's make it more meaningful by decoding its true essence: 👉Reflecting on your inner light: Pause and consider what truly drives you, what gives you purpose, and how you can bring that light forward. 👉Letting go of old thoughts: Just as we clean our homes, let’s clear out habits, fears, or regrets that no longer serve us, making space for fresh energy. 👉Reigniting hope and gratitude: Diwali is a reminder to celebrate how far we've come and the endless possibilities that lie ahead. In my work, I see every day how even a small spark of self-belief can create waves of positive change. So this Diwali, let’s commit to lighting up not only our surroundings but our own lives with purpose and transformations.🪔 💡This Diwali, don't remain stuck in your life, get out of it, ignite the Diya of transformation inside you!🪔 What deeper meaning do you take out of Diwali?🪔 Follow Sudhir Kove 💎 #diwali #diwali2024 #diya #diwalipost #lifetransformation

India is evolving and so is the way we celebrate Diwali. Looking back, in childhood Diwali as a child was all about fireworks shows, excitement, and planning our cracker list with friends' weeks in advance. Over the years, the way we celebrate Diwali has undergone a shift. With conversations around air quality, environmental health, and community well-being gaining momentum across the countries, there’s a collective to approach festivals like Diwali with a bit more thoughtfulness. Firecrackers, once central to the festivities, are now reconsidered for their impact on air quality, noise levels, and public health. To me, Diwali isn't quite the same as it used to be, but it’s evolving in ways that resonate far more deeply. Its great to see families are finding meaningful, sustainable ways to celebrate—opting for biodegradable diyas, organic colors for rangolis, and even joining in community clean-ups. Many of us also now lean toward supporting local artisans, choosing handmade decor that not only honors our traditions but celebrates India’s rich heritage. But as an individual and as a society, there's still a long way to bridge that gap between what we seek for ourselves and what is needed for the community as a whole. The shift isn’t about giving up what we love; it’s about celebrating in ways that can enrich our lives, including our future generations. #Diwali #Tradition #Ecofriendly #Handmade #Tradition

Tradition or Trouble? Diwali, the festival of lights, is deeply rooted in the celebration of good over evil. Traditionally, this joyous occasion was marked by lighting diyas and sharing sweets. Yet, the introduction of firecrackers, largely influenced by commercialization, raises questions about their role in our celebrations. While many see firecrackers as essential to Diwali, their impact on our environment, health, and animals cannot be ignored. On one hand, supporters argue that firecrackers hold cultural significance, as illustrated in the Skanda Purana, which describes the use of firebrands or Ulkas to light the way for ancestors. This connection to tradition evokes a sense of joy and community spirit, fostering togetherness as families gather to celebrate. Conversely, the rising accidents, pollution, and distress among animals during the Diwali season prompt us to rethink these practices. As awareness of environmental concerns grows, it begs the question: should we continue this tradition at the expense of our planet's well-being? In the end, perhaps it's time to embrace the true spirit of Diwali—peace, compassion, and environmental harmony. What are your thoughts? Are firecrackers worth the cost we’re paying? #diwali #socialmedia #socialmediamanager #festiveseason #linkedin #festival

I’m sharing this on LinkedIn because, as a community, we need to rethink how we celebrate Diwali in a way that’s aligned with health, safety, and genuine festivity. This isn’t just about one person or one city—air quality and the effects of pollution impact everyone, and our choices during celebrations can have lasting consequences. Absolutely, the essence of Diwali lies in light, hope, and not in blaring noise or polluting our surroundings. Yet, each year, I find us witnessing the relentless fireworks, the streets littered with remnants of crackers, and the air so thick with smoke that stepping outside feels hazardous. With AQI levels skyrocketing to 900, Delhi’s air has become unbreathable. It’s a tragic irony that the very festival meant to celebrate life and light ends up darkening the air we all share. If we all commit to a more conscious Diwali, focused on light rather than noise and pollution, we can inspire others to do the same. LinkedIn is a place where we come together as professionals, leaders, and changemakers. I hope this post can spark a conversation on how we can balance tradition with responsibility, not just for ourselves but for future generations. PS - How have we reached a point where celebrating means harming our environment and health? Tradition doesn’t justify pollution, and festivities don’t excuse the harm we’re inflicting on our city and ourselves. The true spirit of Diwali isn’t in the temporary thrill. #diwali

#CelebratingDiversity #DiwaliHalloweenSameDay #MulticulturalLearning #HolidayCheer Not entirely a personal post, but felt the urge to share an important message relevant to the times we live in today, whether at work or life outside. I reflected among the chaos we experienced yesterday celebrating both Diwali 🪔 and Halloween 👻 on the same day! For those who don’t know, Diwali is a festival that symbolizes the victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance. Hence, symbolically, we clean, organize and decorate the house to signify the removal of clutter and unimportant things which we don’t need(think garage sale or spring cleaning) I could not decide how best to decorate the house given both Diwali and Halloween fell on the same day this year. Our family enjoys both so we celebrated both among the chaos, imperfections, and confusion around what rituals to skip and what to follow. Was it hard? Hell, yes. Was it fun? Chaotic fun! What worked? Power of planning. Learned anything? Order takeout, don’t seek perfection in cooking. I realized how important it is to embrace both traditions, so our kids naturally learn: 1. Multicultural traditions and importance of celebrations 2. Embrace the differences as if it’s a norm 3. Strengthen connections between family and friends All towards the goal of becoming a global and a proud citizen, professionally and personally!

Obsession for a period will get you up to speed on your goals, but is feeling guilty when taking a break from that healthy? It's the Festival of Lights, Diwali in a couple of days. Happy Diwali to those celebrating! I'm however at a stage where I'm lagging on certain targets, goals, and learning requirements. It's made me edgy and nervous about the festivities in case it gets out of hand. I'm almost trying to build Rome in a day, where I am lagging. I have decided to remind myself that it takes time for great things to happen. If it doesn't, then it probably isn't great to begin with. I wouldn't have enough stories to tell if what I set to achieve, happened over the next second and I love stories. So, I will instead just plan today on how to circumvent the lag and how to be more efficient and effective after the festivities, instead of stressing out. Ps: Did have time for a little festive deco though 😅 #GoalSetting #FestiveSeason #WorkLifeBalance #Diwali2024 #ProductivityMindset #PersonalGrowth #ObsessedWithSuccess #EntrepreneurLife #TimeManagement #LoveWhatYouDo

Diwali: A Festival of Lights, Not Noise and Smoke (My new article). Diwali symbolizes the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil. However, amidst the celebrations, many indulge in fireworks, creating noise and pollution that contradicts the festival's essence. Despite understanding the spiritual significance of Diwali, people often seek the thrill of firecrackers driven by human psychology. The fear of loud sounds and the adrenaline rush they provide evoke endorphins, similar to watching horror movies. Additionally, the display of bravery associated with larger fireworks feeds into our innate desire for dominance and ego boosts. This year, I celebrated Diwali with traditional rituals—homemade sweets, rangoli, and worshipping Goddess Laxmi—before witnessing the stark reality of firecrackers: the severe pollution and environmental damage they cause. Engaging in discussions about environmental impact often leads to irrational justifications, such as comparing personal actions to global conflicts. I believe in advocating for cleaner air and a healthier environment for everyone. Let's work together to celebrate Diwali in a way that honours its true spirit and protects our environment. I welcome your thoughts and perspectives in the comments! #Diwali #FestivalofLights #SayNoToPollution
