NRCF do fantastic work advocating for and supporting the Northern Rivers. 2 years on and our community is still recovering from the terrible impacts of the 2022 floods. Here are learnings from the latest round of NRCF research on how the not for profit/for purpose sector is recovering from the floods. Some of my wonderful FutureBuilders colleagues gave their time to support some of this research across the Northern Rivers. https://lnkd.in/ggfwVGSv

In recent years, we've seen tourism destinations hugely impacted by extreme weather events (such as NSW's South Coast by Black Summer and Lismore by floods, and many rural areas by drought pre-2020) The Prepare & Recover program by FRRR (Foundation for Rural & Regional Renewal) supports rural communities to implement initiatives that prevent and prepare for future climate related impacts, or recover from existing disasters in the medium to long-term timeframe, generally one to ten years after the disaster. https://lnkd.in/g22CSbev We are donating 1% of Tilma Group's annual revenue to this fund! Our followers and clients and friends can join us in this worthy project - we'd love you to throw in ten bucks to join us at https://lnkd.in/e9GrujbR

In recent weeks, the region of Valencia, Spain has faced devastating flooding, leaving countless families and communities in need of urgent assistance. Torrential rains quickly overwhelmed the area, damaging homes, displacing residents, and tragically claiming hundreds of lives. These storms represent the deadliest natural disaster Spain has faced in decades. For many, the road to recovery is just beginning, and it’s a journey that will require the support of compassionate individuals and organizations worldwide. At our 31st Union studio in the heart of Valencia, we’ve witnessed the strength and resilience of this incredible community firsthand. 31st Union is proud to call this city home, and our developers across the globe feel a profound responsibility to help during this critical time. While our studio space fortunately did not sustain damage, we are deeply moved by the impact this disaster has had on the surrounding areas. The challenges are immense, but so too is the outpouring of support from local and global organizations stepping up to make a difference. If you’re looking for ways to help, we encourage you to consider making a donation to one of these incredible organizations actively providing aid on the ground: -Asociación Valenciana de Caridad- Local organization offering emergency assistance and ongoing support to impacted families. -Asociación Mensajeros de la Paz - Delivering essential supplies and fostering community care for individuals in distress. -Federación Española de Bancos de Alimentos (FESBAL) - Mobilizing food banks to ensure that flood-affected families have access to nutritious meals during this crisis. -World Central Kitchen: Known for their disaster response expertise, they’re providing freshly prepared meals, potable water, and other support to those in need. Additionally, there are other reputable NGOs involved in the recovery efforts. You can find a list here: https://lnkd.in/eAADw7xe Every contribution, no matter the size, helps to restore hope and rebuild lives. We hope you'll join us in supporting this remarkable community. Reflecting on the Valencia Disaster: A Call for Resilience and Community The recent disaster in Valencia has left many hearts heavy, as communities face the aftermath of the destruction. In times like these, it's easy to feel overwhelmed by the devastation—but it's also a moment to reflect on the incredible strength of human resilience. In the wake of tragedy, we've seen incredible acts of solidarity. Neighbors helping neighbors, first responders going beyond the call of duty, and organizations coming together to provide support. While recovery will undoubtedly take time, one thing is clear: the power of unity and collective action shines brightest in the darkest moments. As professionals, we can draw inspiration from these efforts. Whether it's offering our time, expertise, or resources, every little bit makes a difference. It's a reminder that in our work, our contributions—no matter how big or small—can have a profound impact on the lives of others. To those affected, and to those working tirelessly to rebuild and recover: you are in our thoughts, and your strength inspires us all. #Valencia #DisasterRecovery #CommunityResilience #Solidarity #SupportEachOther

🚀 Raising Awareness & Building Knowledge of Supply Chain 🌍 Last week, we discussed the lack of understanding about the role of supply chain management within humanitarian organizations, identified as a core challenge by the Fritz Institute. Today, we delve into one of the pivotal studies that shaped our approach: "Disaster Relief, Inc." published in the Harvard Business Review in 2006. https://lnkd.in/etuMSR7 🖋️ Authored by Anisya Thomas Fritz Thomas and Lynn Fritz, this seminal work examined the impact of corporate contributions to disaster relief. It posed critical questions about how businesses can effectively support humanitarian efforts— whether through philanthropic donations or integrative, operational assistance. The study underscored the importance of strategic decisions in maximizing the impact of aid. 📚 "Disaster Relief, Inc." became a cornerstone in our library of collected works, influencing numerous subsequent studies and assessments. It highlighted the need for a deeper understanding and more strategic approach to supply chain management in disaster relief, reinforcing the necessity for standard training programs that we continue to develop and refine today. Stay tuned as we explore other insights and solutions that have helped shape the humanitarian logistics landscape. 💼💡 #HumanitarianAid #SupplyChainManagement #DisasterRelief #FritzInstitute #HumanitarianLogistics
