Are you a junior UX designer? - Looking to advance your skills to the next level? If you have been studying or working on this path for some time, then you already know that UX & UI design is one of those skills that is hard to master only by learning in theory, tutorials, or building hypothetical products or services. It’s also very difficult to get meaningful feedback or guidance to help get your skills to the next level, by those outsides of this discipline. As a senior UX person, I’m personally working on some very complex digital products and services. Now, as the previous internship periods have come to an end and some have found full-time UX jobs along the way, - I’m happy to invite new interns to join and learn with us on these real-world UX challenges. If you are a motivated junior UX designer, serious about progressing your career to next level by working on practical challenges alongside our senior-level UX & product leads, then feel free to connect and send PM. #ux #ai #innovation #mentoring #entrepreneurship

A rarity in UXR - 4 Junior or Entry level positions. UXR has a problem with too few Junior-level positions. Most positions are asking for 3-5+ years of experience. How is someone entering the field from school or transitioning from another role supposed to start their careers?

Do you have advice for how to ACTUALLY get a job in UX for someone who: 1) has a PhD in Psychology 2) meets all the minimum research, writing, management, and data analyses skills required for UX. 3) has been searching for months and applies to 20 jobs per week 4) knows that they would be an amazingly exceptional team member. Or is it only people who have over 10 years UX experience getting UX jobs now-a-days? Yes, I know the market is tough. Yes, it's all about networking. Yes, competition is tough with UX bachelor degrees and students who get UX internships, and UX layoffs, etc. But why is it so hard for a young, Black, educated woman to get a UX job?

Yesterday, I was asked about transitioning to UX research from academia, and here's a summary of what I had to say: 🦋 Assess the Landscape: Recognize the current challenges in the UX job market. While some may advise caution, follow your passion and pursue what aligns with your goals. 🦋 Showcase Your Skills: Leverage your qualitative and quantitative research expertise as a PhD to stand out in UX research roles. Create a portfolio spotlighting case studies and relevant projects. 🦋 Gain Practical Experience: Explore internships or volunteer opportunities in tech companies to gain hands-on experience with the product lifecycle. Collaborate with UX designers, developers, and other teams to learn UX-specific research methods. 🦋 Network on LinkedIn: Boost your visibility by actively engaging with industry professionals on LinkedIn. Comment on posts, share insights, and contribute to the UX community. 📅 For me, my next step is to create my online portfolio. 💡If you are a PhD or PhD student thinking of transitioning to UX research, what is next in your to-do list. #phdjourney #nonclinical #nonacademic #uxresearch #portfolio

From Product and Web Research to UX Research!!! Hello LinkedIn Fam! 👋 Timi here, and I'm excited to share that I'd like to transition from being a product and web research assistant to being a UX researcher. It's been 4 years in my current field and my passion for understanding user behavior and overall love for research has led me to pivot towards UX research. Over the next 90 days, I'll be documenting my journey as I take courses, watch videos, get mentorship, apply for internships, (maybe even get a job). Why am I doing this publicly? -Accountability: Sharing my progress with this community will help me stay committed and consistent. -Learning: I hope to gain valuable insights and feedback from experienced UX researchers and people who have grown by documenting their processes. -Inspiration: I aim to inspire others who might be considering a similar transition and show that it's never too late (or too early) to pursue your passions. I would love to hear your tips on how to stay consistent in this journey. Your support and guidance will be incredibly valuable as I take on this challenge. P.S. I'm still accepting gigs in product and web research, so feel free to reach out if you need my expertise in these areas! Thank you for joining me on this adventure! #day1 #UXResearch #CareerTransition #LearningJourney #90DaysChallenge

Three months ago, I wasn't confident in my abilities as a service designer. However, my recent internship experience has completely transformed my perspective. During my time as a service design intern, I had the opportunity to: 1. Conduct in-depth research, synthesize findings, and improve my writing and thinking skills. 2. Use AI for research (to generate new keywords for further exploration) and writing (to polish my insights). 3. Confirm that service design and research are what I truly enjoy doing. 4. Experience the excitement of working in a consultancy, learning fascinating details about various topics and businesses. 5. Connect with many talented professional designers and expand my network. 6. Improve my Italian language skills. 7. Add new projects to my portfolio, including three different projects that I will be sharing here soon. A big thank you to Marco Miodini and Laure Tibayrenc and other Shifton | Design Practices for Social Innovation members for this incredible experience💛 #ServiceDesign #ConsultancyLife #CareerGrowth #UX #UserExperience #DesignThinking

Day 7/30 of the #30DaysUIChallenge with UX Thrive Today’s design: A Direct Messaging Page! 📩 For this task, I emphasized hierarchy, balance, alignment, and contrast to create a seamless and engaging user experience. I used #Raleway for its clean, elegant style and paired it with #FA8221, a vibrant, warm color, to add energy to the design. This challenge continues to push me creatively and technically, and I’m excited to keep refining my skills. 💡 What do you think of this design? Any suggestions or ideas? 📢 Open to internships, junior roles, or collaborations in UI/UX—let’s connect and build something impactful! #UIDesign #DailyUI #DesignChallenge #UIUXDesign #CreativeJourney

✍️ Interview: Yue Shen Internship at Habidatum Read on Medium: https://lnkd.in/dfSWM5j9 During the summer, Habidatum collaborates with interns from diverse backgrounds and locations to delve into compelling topics in data analytics and business. In 2023, the internship program focused on UX and marketing research. We are now sharing the insights of our interns. Today, we highlight Yue Shen, a UX Researcher & Designer, MSI Student at University of Michigan. According to research by Forrester, every dollar invested in UX design can result in a return on investment (ROI) between $2 and $100. Improving the user experience of a website or app can lead to higher conversion rates, increased sales, and greater customer satisfaction. UX design and the real estate business share similarities, as both involve the strategic placement of elements, whether it’s a button on a website or a building in a physical space. “Location, Location, Location” isn’t just a mantra for real estate agents; it’s also a fundamental principle of UX design. Just as the right location can make or break a property’s value, the placement of elements on a webpage or app can greatly impact user satisfaction and engagement. Therefore, at Habidatum, UX design extends beyond mere digital interfaces. Read full story on Medium: https://lnkd.in/dfSWM5j9
