FAA-Approved UAS Test Range for Agricultural UAS Field Day Announced 📣 https://hubs.la/Q02KxKKx0 Kelly Hills Unmanned Systems will host a grand opening field day to showcase a new FAA-approved 49,000-square-mile agricultural drone testing facility that covers partial airspace in Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska and Iowa, on August 22, 2024. “Unmanned aerial application in agriculture is accelerating faster in other countries than it is here in the United States. We invite American agriculture and international players to Kansas on August 22 for an opportunity to look over the horizon, glimpse into the future and learn more about climate-friendly precision agriculture and economically feasible agricultural unmanned aerial systems.” - explained Lukas Koch, Kelly Hills Unmanned Systems' Chief Executive Officer 🇺🇸 The privately managed test range will provide a unique opportunity for developers and manufacturers to evaluate system efficacy in a low-risk environment and provides the ability to host fixed-wing, multirotor, and rotary-wing testing applications on ten different crops including corn, soybeans and milo. #agritech #UAS #agriculture

Hylio is moving forward with an exemption for sophisticated aerial spraying operations. The extent of regulatory red tape the FAA is allowing Hylio to bypass in this single decision shows a large level of complexity and progression in the regulatory space. The approved exemption allows: 1. A single pilot-in-command (PIC) to operate up to three drones at once WITHOUT a visual observer. 2. Operations to be conducted in a NIGHT setting. 3. Operations to be conducted BEYOND visual line of sight. The simultaneous operation of three drones by a single PIC is unheard of in the aviation and UAS industries. On top of that, the proposed drone structures are larger than 55 pounds, pushing them into a totally different class for commercial operations. The FAA's decision to grant Hylio's multi-regulation exemption showcases its willingness to support and adapt to changing industry goals in a greater capacity than years past. What does Hylio's capabilities or regulatory exemption mean for the future of drone regulation? Let us know in the comments. ⬇ #hylio #droneregulation #agriculture #precisionagriculture #faa https://lnkd.in/e6ApvpNw

Hamjambo drone heads 👋🏾 Recently, a good friend and colleague in the agricultural drone space industry shared a picture she took while at work and it struck a chord with me. In the picture, you can see an agricultural drone expertly spraying corn, juxtaposed with seven diligent men spraying another part of the field using knapsack sprayers. The contrast was stark, one embodies the cutting-edge of modern technology, while the other represents traditional farming practices. The expression on their faces told a story, rather a mix of frustration and realization. As drones become more efficient in our fields, the need for adaptation has never been clearer. We are living in an age where technology is evolving at lightning speed, and staying ahead of the curve is more crucial now than ever before. This is a not-so-gentle reminder for all of us (esp. UAS Pilots), that we must continuously learn, adapt, and embrace new ways of doing things. The future may bring advancements that render current skills obsolete, but by cultivating a mindset of adaptability and lifelong learning, we can ensure that we remain relevant in this ever-changing landscape. Photo credits go to my fellow UAS Pilot Joy Jeruto. Shoutout to Fahari Aviation as this was a Demo they were executing in Dwa, Kibwezi. Stay Sharp! #precisionagriculture #dronelife #agspraydrones #agritech

Soaring to New Heights: Rantizo’s FAA Approval Boosts Drone Operations for Precision Agriculture Pioneering Advanced Drone Operations In a groundbreaking development, Rantizo, based in Iowa City, Iowa, has received an amendment to Exemption No. 18929B from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). This amendment allows Rantizo to swarm up to three drones weighing over 55 pounds, operate without the need for a visual observer (VO), and conduct flights at night. This represents a monumental step forward for drone operations in precision agriculture. Enhancing Productivity and Flexibility Mariah Scott, CEO of Rantizo, emphasizes the importance of this approval: “The FAA’s recognition of the safety and reliability of our systems, along with the evolving needs of our operators, is a testament to our commitment to delivering precise and timely crop protection.” With the ability to fly multiple drones simultaneously, such as the DJI T30 or the XAG P100 Pro, Rantizo operators can cover more acres in less time, significantly increasing productivity. Night operations further enhance this flexibility, allowing drones to spray during optimal weather conditions and reduci... https://lnkd.in/ercEZ96i
