Let it be known: Despite continued obstacles, Black talent thrives in every industry. We are present throughout the economic spectrum, excelling at all levels. Yet, despite our significant contributions, our experiences continue to be diminished. Through conversations and roundtable discussions facilitated by The Black Network, we have uncovered the pervasive inequalities that shadow our professions. I’m in the business of change not charity and that’s what Black Out is about. We're engineering transformation. Black Out represents a critical opportunity for organisations, for budget holders to actively partner with us and participate in change, creating a more inclusive future and for the Black community to be part of it in real time. This is history in the making, join us as we practically change the face of advertising and media. Kike Oniwinde Agoro shared her journey to founding the BYP Network, bringing together Black professionals to provide mutual support and growth, and looked at practical steps we can take in campus and commercial services to create a more diverse workforce. The following panel discussion, chaired by CUBO’s EDI Lead Carol Thomas, gave further insight into current challenges and solutions in increasing diversity in our sector, including the need for a network for female leaders and learning more about the University of Nottingham’s CUBO award-winning Black Sport Collective 👏🏾 #CUBOWinterConf #InsightsToAction #EDI

As we approach #BlackHistoryMonthUK, it's time for organisations to go beyond performative gestures and truly engage with the mission of reclaiming the Black narrative. This year, we have the opportunity to create space to celebrate Black excellence, both past and present, while challenging outdated narratives. I was reminded of this recently at #TheBrillianceSummit hosted by the phenomenal Madeline McQueen, an event that still lives rent-free in my mind. From the power of connection to Denise Nurse’s unforgettable hosting (shoes off on stage, boss entrance to Beyoncé!), it was a refreshing space where we could BE and truly feel seen. Then at the #BlackBusinessMagazine Gala, I witnessed Dr. Tru Powell and Justice Williams MBE shine a light on some of the most brilliant Black businesses—leaders who are not only excelling but building profitable, impactful ventures. It was a powerful reminder that Black history is not just about the past; it’s about the innovation and brilliance happening right now. For organisations, this is a time to: 1️⃣ Reclaim and uplift the Black narrative. 2️⃣ Create authentic spaces for dialogue and celebration. 3️⃣ Support and invest in Black businesses. 4️⃣ Commit to continuous learning and growth. #BHMUK should be more than a moment—it’s about sustaining an ongoing commitment to #Equity, #Inclusion, and celebrating Black culture and contributions every day. #ReclaimTheNarrative #BlackExcellence #DEI #Allyship #BlackEntrepreneurs #Leadership #InclusionMatters #EquityInAction

Over the past two weeks, we have celebrated Black History Month with two impactful events. One, a global initiative, and the other, an intimate office-based workshop. Last week, we delved into the last 10,000 years of Black British History, led by the acclaimed Historian and author, Hakim Adi. The insightful discussion led by Professor Hakim Adi sparked a journey of learning, unlearning, and sharing valuable narratives of history. The event was a true testament to the importance of reclaiming historical narratives. Today, our York office hosted a rejuvenating Liha Shea Butter workshop, highlighting the natural African product and the wellness mission of LIHA Beauty. It was a pleasure to engage with their wonderful products and mission. This marks the second year of hosting such an event, emphasising personal wellness, knowledge sharing, and fun. The day concluded with a selection of Jamaican dishes, including my favourite of Oxtail and Butter beans. These enriching events are a testament to the commitment of our Executive Committee and DEIB team at Anaplan, fostering a Winning Culture that drives success. A special thank you to , Justicia Otobo, Manon Cros, Rhonda R. Holmes (She/Her),Jackson Bailey, Mandy Mc Vorran, Clare Wilkinson. Hakim Adi Liha from LIHA Beauty for their invaluable contributions to making these events possible. As Professor Adi aptly put it, Black History should not be confined to just one month a year. Let's continue the journey of learning and celebrating diversity beyond designated months. #BHM2024 #ReclaimingNarratives #DiversityMatters #DiversityinInnovation #Anaplan #AnaplanWinningCulture
