Last Month, Max Forer joined the CLE discussion, "NIL and the Everchanging Amateur Athletics Landscape" for the Oregon State Bar Intellectual Property Section. The session allowed attendees to learn about the latest legal updates and industry news in college sports, including the intellectual property issues involved with NIL and how NIL issues will impact the future of college and high school sports. Well done, Max!

Absolutely 1st class in how you can support a player through school, sport and life. Using transferable skills learned in the academy to build a brand and business for life after academy football and then using that life experience already to support younger players. Gary Warren Ross County Football Club more than just a football club, character development. 👏👏👏👏👏👏
🦌 We sat down with our Academy Manager Gary Warren and former Academy player Fergus Adams to discuss Fergus' new business and how important the pathway after leaving academy football is.

An absolute pleasure. The conversion was rich in solutions rather than a perspective of reactions. Often we look to mitigate the impact of society on our young people. Rather than looking to remove any barriers that they may face. It was great to get back to the core, with a group of individuals who which to use sport, not only as a mechanism for a professional avenue, but more to draw away the skills that sport teaches us. Having played full time football and part time in non-league. Even being lucky enough to move onto the Conference. All whilst running a business. Sport has taught me the following: - hard work is not negotiable, - just because you like something it doesn’t make the grind any easier, - resilience is a must in any walk of life, - team work is essential to build morale and culture, - you must be willing to pick others up around you where they need a helping hand. These are the same principles that I have applied to life and here at Bouncing Statistics whilst I wish for young people to learn these vital skills and values also.
Brilliant meeting Rackeem Reid yesterday discussing all things young people, the challenges they face and the power that sport has to level the playing field, and to hear about their brilliant work Bouncing Statistics. Really thought-provoking conversation about being evidence-based in our approach and authentic in our direction as we look to put plans in place for our upcoming football and education programme Birmingham United for the 24/25 season. Looking forward to working together to positively impact the lives of young people in our city.

Honored to coauthor a study from the BU CTE Center where we studied the brains of 77 deceased male former ice hockey players. 42 (55%) had #CTE, but the major finding is the dose-response relationship - their relative odds of having CTE went up 34% per year played. Years played is a crude approximation of the number and strength of head impacts, which is an approximation of repetitive traumatic brain injuries, which are the cause of CTE. The violin plot below tells the story best. The risk is lower among those with short careers: 0 of 6 who played 6 years or fewer had CTE, and 19% of those who played <13 years. But in our sample 27 of 28 professionals (96%) had CTE and 100% of those who played 25 years or more. That doesn't mean that everyone who played that long has CTE. But it should raise alarm bells that we have to make the game safer and look out for former players. If you or someone you care about needs help with symptoms that could be related to CTE, DM or go to http://CLFHelpLine.org. The full study can be accessed here. https://lnkd.in/eZBm73UT

Great to read the new FA strategic plan - particularly the final point around long-term community engagement and how football can add value off the pitch. I’ve been lucky enough to work on a series of brilliant social impact campaigns, using football as the platform to try and make society better…even if it’s just a little bit. In the last couple of years alone, we’ve… 🪙 Created a world-first with the Coin for Respect, engaging 120,000 kids and getting physical coins into the hands of 15,000+ grassroots refs to keep our game respectful from the ground up https://lnkd.in/ekhCmyAX 🦁 Heroed the communities that nurtured some of our greatest female players with our ‘Where Greatness is Made’ campaign, including the women who have pioneered women’s football in England and made it what it is today https://lnkd.in/e2yhsnMi 🖼️ Got football fans - with a particular focus on men - thinking and talking about their mental health with our ‘Goals Worth Talking About’ campaign, brought to life with some incredible, eye-catching street art that still adorns their respective walls to this day https://lnkd.in/e-9bkAJm 🔇 In a similar vein, we’ve helped young people understand the importance of speaking up when they need help and support through our ‘Silent Football’ activation https://lnkd.in/ejURMeir Can’t wait to see what good football can continue bringing to our communities. And if you’re a club or partner brand looking for ways to do good, give us a shout - we’d love to help make it happen. #football #sportpr #sportbusiness #sponsorship #socialimpact
Over the past four years, we have – in collaboration with our key partners – been able to deliver meaningful change across the game. From winning our first major tournament in over 50 years to delivering thousands of high-quality pitches to the grassroots game. But we can’t stop now – and we won’t. Our new strategic plan through to 2028 aims to take English football forward, with a clear focus on the biggest opportunities and challenges that need to be addressed. 3 ways Irish football can improve 🇮🇪 I understand these require investments, but I’m hugely passionate about football being a cause for positive community change 1. Facilities 🏟 In some counties, players have to drive 40 minutes to their closest pitch. More mini astros or concrete pitches would help get kids participating. 2. More qualified coaches ⚽️ The standard of coaching can be raised from grassroots to elite level. Invest in the fantastic Irish talent off the pitch. 3. Focus on technical work with young players 💪 From a 5-16 years of age, weekly ball mastery sessions would be huge. 11 years of technical development. Our players need to be more confident on the ball. I could go on for ages. I’ll develop these points in separate posts. 🤝 I love talking about this with people! Let me know your opinions on how we can improve football in this country…

Did you know? Each year, between 1.7 and 3 million sports- and recreation-related concussions occur, with approximately 300,000 stemming from football alone. 🏈 We're committed to funding more research to better understand and address this pressing issue. 🧠 #ConcussionAwareness #SportsSafety #ResearchMatters 💪
