It's easy to get to know someone these days and liking is more of a reason to hang out. I can get to know you on a web chat and I don't hang out with my remote service providers. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐛𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬? The same applies. I encourage organizations to build generous workplace cultures because they are tremendous growth environments. A growing environment doesn't lend itself to blanket "knowing" and "liking". Not everyone on the team will be best friends and no one can get to know every new person that joins. 🚀 Networking. Public Speaking. Relationship Building. These are the areas where so many in tech fall short. The ability to position yourself in circles with decision-makers 🔑 or connect directly with them is an underrated skill. Companies value this because it shows you can: ✅ Represent their products, services, and culture in the best light. ✅ Walk into a room and leave with meaningful connections. Recently, I gained an opportunity simply by speaking with—and genuinely connecting—with a parent of a student. My approach is always to build authentic relationships 🫱🏽🫲🏾, not just “use” connections.
