Any other transgender voice people or singers feel mixed up about "mixed voice"? 🤔 My recent comment on a post might provide some insight, and features a very accessible article by Ivo Fernandes on the research of Michèle Castellengo. Get in the "mix" 🙄 and join the conversation in the comments! "Thanks for addressing this understudied topic with your work. As evidenced by the Roubeau et al (Laryngeal Vibratory Mechanisms) research you're referencing, there seems to be some contradiction on how the register terminology predating LVMs is used. As a trans voice teacher myself, I've kinda checked out of the register conversation as there's a lot of weird AGAB bioessentialism baked into this centuries old lexicon (ex: "Women don't have chest register", "Men only have falsetto and can only do whistle if castrated"). As such, would love a better understanding of your interpretation of register terminology as it pertains to trans voice. Funnily enough, one of my voice research colleagues Ivo Fernandes actually collaborated with me to write an article summarizing the research of Castellengo et al on clarifying the true nature of what many refer to as "mix": https://lnkd.in/gj7rNxZz The original paper is actually available for free on ResearchGate. Basically, it is believed that the "bridge" between M1 and M2 is actually a mediation of glottal quotient values between the two when using both M1 and M2 separately, rather than a novel joint mechanism. Newly leaked files from within the leading global transgender healthcare body have revealed that the clinicians who shape how “gender medicine” is regulated and practiced around the world consistently violate medical ethics and informed consent. The files, which were leaked from within the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH), were published today. The WPATH Files reveal that the organization does not meet the standards of evidence-based medicine, and members frequently discuss improvising treatments as they go along. The more we read this bill...the more flabbergasted we got. A proposed bill in Missouri would label teachers as sex offenders for offering support to transgender students. This not only undermines the crucial role of educators but also poses a serious threat to the well-being of students. As educators, our primary duty is to provide a safe and supportive environment for all students - regardless of their gender identity. Yet at the same time, this bill seeks to punish teachers for fulfilling their responsibilities to support and advocate for transgender students. How does that help anyone? Kat and I were having a catch-up yesterday and talking about how the ad industry tends to lean into one way to represent our community and forgets to show the vast and interesting variety of LGBTQIA+ Lives. These are the most common forms of LGBTQIA+ Representation we felt we had seen in the last 12 months. >Lesbian: Mainly shown as pregnant and or moving house >Gay: Mainly shown as Drag Queens. >Bi -Mainly shown Dating >Transgender: Mainly shown as transitioning I asked ChatGBT and whilst it wasn't as specific, it did note the family and home settings, if ChapGBT sees it, have we got lazy?
