Are you curious about what earning your #submarine dolphins is like? Below is another great video from the US Navy and Dr. Robert Roncska (USS TEXAS) about what it is like directly from the Sailors. Although the video explains it well, it is tough to realize what it truly means unless you go through the process. If you want to try, RADM Jim Waters can help you join the Navy! I sure hope there is still a 400 Hz subsystem and complex ventilation system onboard with which to case panic during checkouts 😝 I loved qualifying but really loved helping qualify folks more. What a great feeling to see them crush it.
It was a pleasure serving with Dr. Bob Roncska!!
Thank you immensely, Tony! One of the most rewarding but toughest qualifications that have ever existed. I'm incredibly proud to have served in the finest submarine force in history.
It felt awsome to wear my fish for 20 years I was damn proud to be a submariner
Incredible video!!! Really blessed to drive Cruisers and Destroyers, but it kind of made me want to “run silent, run deep”… just for a few minutes… then I came to my senses!!! 😉
The OLDEST of the pins. The one that shows you have a base knowledge but have yet to learn. The one that is given by the crew, not by a test or by completing the evolution. The one that is earned like no other.
Such a great video!! Having Dr. Robert Roncska tee it up is awesome…no one better to show us the way. Thanks for sharing Tony Grayson!! And yes, I will be happy to help anyone wanting their own Navy adventure!!
There is not another Warfare Device I would rather have. It was also tons of fun when I was an E5 thru Chief when a new JO from the Academy checked onboard.
When I qualified for my gold dolphins we also had to go through a SubGroup Commodore walkthrough as a final step. In this, the CO was saying to the Submarine Force that this person is ready to lead, and the Commodore was confirming it. Will never forget the trust and accomplishment that receiving Dolphins represents.
