Children differ fundamentally from other patient groups in terms of their emotional and cognitive needs. Our holistic approach includes child-friendly preparation for an imaging procedure and helps reduce the stress level significantly. ↪ Gerda, the brave giraffe🦒, supports our youngest patients in preparing for an examination and accompanies them during the #CT scan itself. ↪ MINITOM Kids, a child-sized model scanner, allows children to become familiar with the scanning process through interactive exploration. Features such as a movable table, interactive noise-making buttons, and a tunnel under the scanner help to transform the scanning process into a positive and engaging experience. It is great to see the sensitivity and innovation Siemens-Healthineers is bringing to pediatric patients. When my grandson was 3 years old he was diagnosed with Burkitt’s Lymphoma and had to have many scans. I am glad to say he is a healthy 11 year old today. Thanks to all the healthcare professionals who care for and think about how to reduce anxiety for pediatric patients.
Die Giraffe Gerda erinnert mich an die Giraffe von XP. Wie schön, dass sie weiterlebt.
This is great!

Head of Diagnostic Imaging for Southern Europe at Siemens Healthineers
7moHi Thomas! In the Southern Europe Zone, at the Radiology Congress in Portugal, we recently used the MINITOM Kids mock-up and Gerda :) as central pieces of the #SiemensHealthineers booth, dedicated to the pediatric patient experience. It was a hit! It captured the curiosity and sympathy of the congress attendees, but more importantly, it sparked very interesting conversations about what we do and what we can achieve together with our clients to enhance the patient experience, both in general and specifically for pediatric patients in this case. We found concrete examples of how these actions impact the reduction of repeat exams, the quality of diagnostics, and the reduction of sedation rates in MR, for instance.
