Children differ fundamentally from other patient groups in terms of their emotional and cognitive needs. Our holistic approach includes child-friendly preparation for an imaging procedure and helps reduce the stress level significantly. ↪ Gerda, the brave giraffe🦒, supports our youngest patients in preparing for an examination and accompanies them during the #CT scan itself. ↪ MINITOM Kids, a child-sized model scanner, allows children to become familiar with the scanning process through interactive exploration. Features such as a movable table, interactive noise-making buttons, and a tunnel under the scanner help to transform the scanning process into a positive and engaging experience. Adults with cerebral palsy or #CP are at increased risk of #falling. Great oral presentation #aacpdm2024 by Kari Pederson to help raise awareness, followed by a Q&A sesssion. Kari pointed out very clearly how to help adults with CP when they are on the floor. Offer your help but let the person decide how to be helped. #autonomy Cerebral Palsy Research Network (CPRN)

This #WorldSightDay, we join the global community in raising awareness about the importance of eye care for children and young people. Every day, young people miss out on critical learning and social opportunities because of a vision issue that could be treated, corrected and often cured. Common eye conditions in children include ambloypia, strabismus and refractive errors such as short-sightedness (myopia). What parents and caregivers can do: 👉Get your child's eyes checked regularly, starting with the most important screening test between 3.5 to 5 years of age before they start school (in line with Vision 2020 Australia's National Framework loom.ly/01N-HwQ) 👉 Make sure they get plenty of time outdoors, limit the time spent on electronic devices and give their eyes plenty of breaks during the day 👉 Watch this recent ABC News interview with one of our refractive surgeons, Prof Colin Chan, talking about the rise in myopia: loom.ly/q1sGVnk Let’s work together to create a world where everyone can see clearly and live fully. 💙👓 #LoveYourChildsEyes #EyeHealth #Ophthalmology #VisionCare #HealthyEyes #EyeTest

Are you unsure about the right points to cover or how to say them during a comprehensive eye exam with a child?* Talking longer is not necessarily better. If your patient’s parent has never heard of #myopia before, they may find it difficult to understand how their age-appropriate child with myopia’s vision and #eyehealth may benefit from MiSight®* 1 day. The MiSight® QuickStart 1-Minute Parent Conversation videos feature MiSight® 1 day prescribers giving examples of how to have easy to understand, concise conversations with parents of children with myopia. https://lnkd.in/g3etVzDj * U.S. Indications for Use: MiSight® 1 day (omafilcon A) soft (hydrophilic) contact lenses for daily wear are indicated for the correction of myopic ametropia and for slowing the progression of myopia in children with non-diseased eyes, who at the initiation of treatment are 8-12 years of age and have a refraction of -0.75 to -4.00 diopters (spherical equivalent) with ≤ 0.75 diopters of astigmatism. The lens is to be discarded after each removal.
