I am scheduled to give a talk at the Grow Up Conference & Expo on May 27th, at 2:00pm. It's a cannabis conference - all about, well, cannabis and the business of cannabis. It's the first cannabis conference at which I have agreed to speak. My talk references cannabis, about...let me add it up...zero times. Because, my talk is about business - business strategy. And how business strategy drives business structure and business staffing. And how they link together in a cascade. And the last time I looked, and I've looked a few times, cannabis in Canada is a business. It's not special or different, in regards to strategy, structure and staffing. Too many people think cannabis is different - and that's probably their biggest problem (among many). The foundations and fundamentals of good business transcend all business, I don't care what it is - and if you do not understand them and apply them, you have set yourself up to fail. So let's build the right foundation for your business - this, is step one. Put that in your bong and smoke it.

BIG SHOUT OUT TO Headset. Really know how to bring professionals together to break the ice. Can't really keep your guard up or ask tuff questions when you're both giggling holding puppies. Big thanks to MJ Unpacked for putting on another positive ROI cannabis conference. My top takeaways from the Lou: 1. The Missouri cannabis industry is more collaborative than others. MoCannTrade (Missouri Cannabis Trade Association) is well run with consistent member events. And when speaking with the operators they seem to know and trust each other. 2. Capital is still the largest domino for many cannabis companies. Even established operations looking to expand need capital their cash flows can support. 3. Positive ash Flows are important. Can not get around running a profitable business when it comes to Buying, Selling or Raising Capital for a cannabis business (not a novel idea but something worth reminding ourselves of) Missouri gave me a bit of a blue print for how I want to shape Wisconsins cannabis industry. Keep it Quality, Keep it Local, Keep it fun. Some Missouri operators are doing just that.
