For veterans, understanding the intersection of migraine disease, traumatic brain injury (TBI), and psychiatric conditions is crucial for improving their healthcare outcomes.[1] By acknowledging the full spectrum of these symptoms and how they interact, we can deliver more tailored care and reduce the burden on veterans living with these challenges. The Nerivio® REN wearable is a non-drug, FDA-cleared treatment for migraine, which allows veterans to manage their disease without interfering with medications they may be taking for TBI, chronic pain, or mental health conditions, and does not contribute to medication overuse headaches (MOH). Better yet, it’s covered under VA benefits, providing safe and dual-use care for those who need it most. Learn more at https://lnkd.in/eJYX2SwB —---------------------------------------------- 1. Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a serious disease that affects the central nervous system, disrupting communication between the brain and other parts of the body. While the chances of getting MS are relatively slim, it’s important to know some early signs of MS. It affects each person differently and can range from mild to severe, often making a diagnosis difficult to pin down. Also as there is no standard test to confirm a diagnosis, it’s important to see a practitioner for certain symptoms. Check out this Cleveland Clinic article on 4 early signs to keep an eye out for 👀 #MS #PreventativeHealth

🫀Cardiac Arrest vs Heart Attack and Stroke: Understand the Differences Each condition presents unique symptoms and requires specific treatments. Here's a brief overview: Cardiac Arrest - Description: An electrical disorder causing the sudden, unexpected loss of heart function. - Symptoms: Loss of consciousness, cessation of breathing, and absence of a pulse. - Treatment: Immediate CPR and defibrillation are vital to save lives. Heart Attack - Description: A circulation disorder where blood flow to the heart is blocked, typically by plaque buildup in the arteries. - Symptoms: Chest pain, shortness of breath, cold sweats, and other body aches. - Treatment: Quick medical intervention is essential to prevent damage to the heart muscle, though it is not immediately life-threatening. Stroke - Description: A brain disorder caused by a disruption in blood flow to the brain, either through a blockage or rupture of a blood vessel. - Symptoms: Weakness or paralysis on one side of the body, difficulty speaking, blurred vision, and mental confusion. - Treatment: Fast treatment with medication or surgery is critical to reduce the risk of long-term disability or death. https://lnkd.in/dDMaFQfD #CardiologyFellows #HeartHealth #CardioHealth #CardiovascularDisease #CardiologyLife #HeartDisease #HeartResearch #CardioMed #HeartAwareness #HeartMatters #CardioEducation #HeartScience

In Canada, June is #BrainInjuryAwareness Month. Each year national, provincial, and local associations run campaigns to increase awareness about the prevalence of brain injury, the obstacles that exist for those with brain injury, and the need for more services and support at all stages of recovery. Motor vehicle accidents are a major cause of TBIs, even if it is a closed head injury. This article explores the methods of diagnosis, symptoms, and the impact of TBIs on individuals. CLG Injury Law will be sharing articles throughout the month to help raise awareness for this debilitating injury. This week's post is about traumatic brain injuries and how are they diagnosed? Managing Trauma Patients with Acute Compartment Syndrome: A Delicate Balance Trauma patients often endure severe pain, making #PainManagement in cases of Acute Compartment Syndrome (ACS) critical. #ACS can cause irreversible muscle damage if not diagnosed early, yet pain – a primary symptom – isn’t always easy to assess. In a recent study published by Dr Eleftheria Soulioti et al. in MDPI, researchers revealed that Peripheral Nerve Blocks (PNBs) aren’t contraindicated for patients at risk of ACS, as long as surveillance is maintained. Historically, these were avoided due to concerns over masking symptoms. But now, with proper monitoring, regional #Anaesthesia can safely relieve pain without risking a delayed ACS diagnosis. In emergency settings, early detection of ACS can be the difference between #MuscleNecrosis or recovery. Let’s not underestimate the role of vigilant, evidence-based care in trauma medicine. #TraumaCare #AcuteCompartmentSyndrome #PainManagement #EmergencyMedicine #HealthcareInnovation Tatiana Sidiropoulou #SentinelpH
