I totally get this post by Hacking HR. HR Leaders are the heart and soul of their companies. Often, they are the ears and shoulders to cry on. There is one problem that isn't a laughing matter. In fact, it is crushing employees, their families, and their companies and isn't getting the attention it deserves. Our very own Mid-Atlantic VP, Gary R. Slodowski, addressed the crowd at a CAI Keystone Chapter meeting on Friday. He presented crowd control and de-escalation strategies to property managers & board members from all over the Poconos region. Gary spoke about controlling gatherings, monitoring social media for potential bad behavior, and preventing dangerous situations at community meetings and events. This is a case where the participant actually identified an issue and called to resolve it. In reality, we would have flagged this claim and caught the card transaction issue because OCA substantiates 100% of all transactions (as required by code). This is a great example of why employers should use a TPA that follows the law. Doing so, protects the employer and the participant, not the TPA (the Employer is the one legally responsible) in the event of a Plan audit. Given the fact that audits are rare, this example simply highlights the fact that health debit cards don't stop "bad" claims from going though the system. Good TPAs and solid processes are what brokers and employers should be looking for. Without them, employers end up paying substantially more in claims that they will never be aware of because of HIPAA and privacy rules. How much more does it cost in claims? We believe it's an average of 20% based upon groups we've taken over. Feel free to reach out if you want to learn more.

Launching Crevi Community is the most personal launch of my 20+ year career. For me, it's kind of like a love letter and warm hug to an industry that has given me more than this first gen college graduate could have ever hoped for. I mean, I feel soooo lucky to have been able to grow in my career at some of the worlds most respected life sciences companies such as BD, Illumina, and Emulate, Inc. So, after departing Emulate in January 2024 I was interviewing for Chief Commercial Officer and Chief Marketing Officer roles at AWESOME companies. I was humbled. I was grateful..But, something also didn't feel right. After reflecting on what I truly wanted, I decided it was time to reconnect with family after living a 4 hour plane ride away from anyone for 10 years (so I packed up and moved from Boston to Houston...And if you haven't heard the Houston life sciences scene is fire right now...but essentially I left the tundra to live in a bakers oven) and I also wanted to find some freedom and flexibility in my life. But, also. I wanted to help the industry that had given me so much. I started thinking about what life sciences commercial professionals were missing that other industries had in abundance. How could we help bring marketing, sales, and customer success teams together during an unprecedented rebalancing across the industry? How do we help folks grow and develop throughout their career and find success leading their organizations? And that is where Crevi and Crevi Community was born. Crevi meaning "to come forth/to be" and a community because community is what we all crave whether we want to admit it or not. Other industries have an abundance of communities supporting their commercial professionals, but life sciences is not there yet. My hope is that you find connection amongst your peers, learn from one another, and I know, I know we have a tendency to be secretive in the life sciences community, so we have a dedicated space for you to ask these tough questions anonymously.
