🇲🇽 Mexico... Another election, another result that caught polls by surprise! 🚨 But hold on, before we blame the polling companies entirely, let's dig deeper. 👉 The reality? True opinions can be tricky to unearth. 🕵️♂️ ▶ People's viewpoints can be as changeable as the weather. 🌦️ ▶ Not everyone has the time to become a political expert (and that's okay!) ⏱ ▶ Discussing political preferences can be sensitive. 🗣️ ▶ Plus, saying you'll vote and showing up at the booth are two different things ➡️ 🗳️. Jason Brennan from Georgetown even categorizes voters into 3 groups: 🧝♀️ Hobbits: Politics? Meh. (might still vote though) 🏈 Hooligans: Party loyalty? Like a die-hard sports fan! 🧠 Vulcans: Information seekers, voting with logic in mind Traditional polling methods can sometimes oversample specific groups. For example, phone surveys might reach more older voters (often the "Vulcans") than younger generations. ☎ So, how do we uncover the hidden preferences of ALL these groups? 🤔 We need to consider both what people consciously say and their unconscious responses - the things people don't say, as Virginia Woolf once noted.
