Notable #Robotics Investment Rounds from Q1 & What They Mean for Robotics Investing: ▶ We are seeing a growing number of B and C stage rounds across a range of sectors, indicative of a building wave of robotics startups that will reach maturity and usher in a reinvigorated robotics exit landscape ▶ Well-known, generalist tech investors and corporates are getting more involved to co-invest and even lead robotics deals, showcasing the increasing appetite & conviction of the larger venture community for robotics ▶ Humanoids stand as the far outliers in terms of funding metrics, and much like autonomous vehicles and drones did in past cycles have attracted large, strategic, long-term investors who can hold for long periods and continue to re-invest as the technology develops ▶ Robotics has taken a front and center place for the investing community in a way that we have never seen before – understanding the mechanics of how robotics startups develop products, go to market, and generate revenues is critical for any investors getting involved in the space. We are excited to bring the community together for Robotics Invest in June! Apart from all the top flight speakers, my favourite part of the GCVI Summit on Monterey is meeting the startups that come to exhibit. We have 30+ corporate-backed startups attending this year, among them these #robot makers. I know 30+ sounds like a lot less than you would find at a Web Summit or a Slush — but these #startups are all carefully curated to be the ones that are already working with or funded by corporates. They always have some interesting insights into what is going on behind these scenes in their industries. A sneak preview in this piece about why corporate #investors have been increasing their spending on robot technologies recently.
There's been a resurgence of #corporate #investment in #robot #startups since the start of the year. These robot companies explain the trends that are driving this. Thank you Intuition Robotics ROBOEATZ and GrayMatter Robotics for your insights! (And for anyone coming to the GCVI Summit next week, you can meet these startups — and 30+ more in sectors from AI to nutrition to energy — there.)
