Wow! Years ago I would’ve been like yeah I do- I keep going like the energizer bunny 🐰 and been so proud of myself for doing it all. But now, after all the mental, physical and emotional breakdown and burnout- not anymore. Can we please stop normalizing women doing it all. I would never want my daughters to do even half the things I’ve had to do in my life bc there was no support and unrealistic expectations of what it means to be a woman in this world. Like honestly, if we are to be so proud of keeping going when we are beyond our capacity why aren’t we honoured and compensated for that output- like our male counterparts? Nope, this narrative is not for me anymore. In fact, it’s this very discourse that I am working to disrupt and change, because women are not okay- they say they are, but they are not and I’m going to change that! The Mom Project

Yes, but at a cost. Being a few years past this incredibly busy time of life, I realize how worn out I am.

It's so important to have or build a support network, and to have/find resources that can help ease some of the weight. I know it's easier said than done, but that is a foundation worth investing in as it will contribute to your well-being which will have trickle down effect. Remember, oxygen mask on you first!

Moms make the impossible, possible! We don’t just get it done, we get it done by thinking outside the box, we have amazing problem-solving abilities! I wish more companies believed this and understood how important work-life balance is for moms. At the end of the day not only will we get our life and our work done but we won’t have to sacrifice our mental and/or physical health to do it!

Another 4am morning...I'm exhausted. It is go go go all day, juggling two young kids, a household, back to back meetings, child care drop off, pick up, lunches, school drop off and pick up, special playtime, board reports, financial summaries, dinner, bathtime, reading time, then work again until I just can't keep my eyes open. 5 to 6 hours of sleep, then it starts all over again at 4am.

Get him up, feed him, off to school, work all day, pick him up from football practice, feed him again, dishes done… then it’s tractor time. Wash off the dust and grit, get some shut eye, and play the tune again. Even when it feels like I can’t carry a tune in a bucket, I still belt em out every day.

I think it's a reliability issue as well, who are you counting on to help you through hard tasks ?

The thing to remember...we keep going and going and going until we CRASH. I have been out of commission for 2 months, struggling with health issues, bumpy recoveries and sickness after sickness. Moms can do the impossible but truly we need to take care of ourselves more, receive more understanding and support and realize that we are NOT superheroes even if our lil ones will always see us as such. THANK YOU!

The literal impossible and making it look easy (which is why people want to keep adding to your plate).
