Some of the best advice a CEO/Director gave me was to focus on my outputs and stop chasing promotions, titles, and accolades. When you focus on the real goal, all those things will fall in place. Even when you see others around you being promoted and advancing just be patient and wait your turn. Life will surely unveil what is meant for you #alwaysfocusonyourfocus

The 3rd place winner often looks happier than the 2nd place winner - a phenomenon known as the "Bronze Medal Effect." The 2nd place winner tends to focus on "what could have been" and the missed opportunity of 1st place, while the 3rd place winner feels gratitude for at least making it to the podium. Consider the case of two colleagues at a company; one who secured a significant project and another who narrowly missed a major promotion. The first colleague celebrates the new project, recognizing the opportunity for growth and the new skills they'll develop. The second, however, remains fixated on the missed promotion, feeling unfulfilled despite their substantial achievements and contributions. This is the #BronzeMedalEffect in the Corporate world. In our careers, we can fall into the same trap. Focusing solely on the next promotion or title can make us lose sight of the progress we've made and the skills we've gained. For example, imagine an employee who missed a big leadership role promotion. While disappointed, they overlook the fact that they received excellent performance reviews, learned new skills, and built strong relationships within the company. Instead of celebrating these achievements, they fixate on the missed promotion. It's crucial to shift our mindset from "what could have been" to "what we've accomplished." This change in perspective can help us appreciate our journey, maintain motivation, and avoid unnecessary stress. Remember, it's not just about the position; it's about the journey, growth, and performance. Celebrate your achievements and keep moving forward with a positive mindset.
