We're excited to publicly announce our long-standing partnership with Pepperdine University's Office of Student Accessibility 🎉 Some of the highlights from their team's work with our PDF-to-HTML Remediation product: - Reduced document remediation time significantly, enabling faster access to course materials for students with low vision. - Cut external remediation costs, saving thousands of dollars in outsourced services. - Remediated nearly 2,000 pages within the first month, which would not have been possible with manual remediation. - Improved OSA adoption, with team members and faculty using the tool to make academic documents accessible. - Enhanced compliance, meeting and exceeding ADA accessibility standards. As reported by the Perkins School for the Blind, the post‐secondary school completion rate for blind or low-vision students is 42.8% as compared to 62.2% for the broader U.S. college graduation rate. Our north star with this and other educational partnerships is to increase the university graduation rate for blind or low-vision students.

Professional learning should not be delivered--it is not a Fed Ex package.
This new study from EdWeek Market Brief keeps repeating one of my biggest pet peeves in the #professionaldevelopment landscape. In a survey on "in person" and "virtual" #pd, they keep using the verb "delivered" to describe a professional development experience. You can't "deliver" development. It isn't a package. It's an ongoing, iterative process. Anybody who is "delivering" #professionallearning to #schools isn't worth the time or money. It doesn't matter if it's in person or virtual. https://lnkd.in/gc2XVPd2 #schoolleadership #schoolleaders #educationalleadership Sibme

The boundaries between segments hold tremendous potential, especially for both academic and CTE dual enrollment. Allowing this to be managed and tracked at the level of students and families, and schools and colleges is critical. However, without adequate software or personal technology these type of strategic and accessible dual enrollment options and pathways are only available to a tiny fraction of the school population and have to managed with adequate human resourcing, which is difficult in budget constrained times.
As I reflect on the wild ride that is ASU-GSV, I'm energized by the fact that "skills," "pathways," and "degrees" were mentioned together throughout the summit. To me, that signals that there is a growing commitment to delivering real value for students via strong pathways from education to career. We know that dual enrollment is often an important component of those pathways—that's why I'm excited to share our team's new learning deck. Check it out to learn about the history of dual enrollment, our hypothesis about what great dual enrollment programs look like, and the levers we have to make all dual enrollment programs great ones. Shoutout to Career Ladders Project, the Community College Research Center, and the Public Policy Institute of California for their partnership—as well as Bill Tucker and Sylvia Symonds, Ph.D. for their synthesis. https://lnkd.in/ddRxupij

Wow. 8 years ago today, a young Daniel with butterflies in his stomach moved onto campus at the University of the Cumberlands. His heart was tense as he wondered what to expect and whether he would enjoy the new sensation. Before he knew it, young Daniel met some of the most incredible people in my life who significantly impacted me. Before he knew it, young Daniel was involved with groups and departments throughout campus that significantly impacted his future, including being the college mascot—Pete the Patriot! Some tips from my experience as a college alum and former college mascot: 1. Actively participate in extracurricular activities and take advantage of opportunities, but only a few simultaneously. 2. Seek help before a problem emerges. 3. Feel free to drop a class. 4. Stay healthy. Eat healthy and find the time to exercise. Doing so will help you more than you know. 5. Cultivate friendships with a small group of others you connect well with—it's easy to be friends with everyone on campus (especially if you or you build your way up to becoming an extrovert). Usually, your friend group gets smaller after college, and you become very closely connected with those few friends with whom you initially connected well (mine live in Knoxville, and I talk to them almost daily!). 6. Most importantly - think of your education as giving you skills that will help you make a positive mark on this world. I am thinking about all of the first-year students and all college students who are continuing their education this month. These are our emerging leaders who will make an impact on the world.
