So I'm a self-published, children's book author with Jordi Castells-Esquivel. My book still hasn't turned a profit, but that's OK. I wrote a few LinkedIn articles on why profit wasn't the goal of writing the book. But this video makes me really uneasy. What if Spotify (or another major company) updated its terms of distribution to basically steal your IP and make a profit? It's a good assumption that they would use an AI model to generate content based on your IP. Anyway, here's my book :-) --> https://a.co/d/hbAqH80

Ever wondered what it takes to recreate a music titan like Spotify? 👀 My recent project shed light on this thrilling journey. Tackling this task required diving deep into the essence of Spotify, and oh, what a ride it has been! 🔑 From mastering HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and React to weaving a robust authentication system, each step was a lesson in perseverance and innovation. Responsive design was not just a checkbox but a commitment to accessibility, ensuring our clone stands tall on any device. But here's the twist - we didn't stop at mimicking. We introduced unique features like local storage playback and personalized recommendations, aiming to bridge gaps we found in the original. This venture taught me the importance of understanding user needs and the power of team collaboration. 🎵 How do you think technology is shaping the future of music streaming platforms? #MusicTech #ProjectManagement #InnovationInTech #SpotifyClone

Do you love stories? So do we. 📚 (And so does Jacob Tellep, our Full Stack Software Developer and author of this blog.) But how do you reconcile a love of stories with the short-form, fast-paced content of Reels and TikTok? This blog explores how to honor a love of storytelling while adapting to – and even thriving in – an algorithm-driven world. 🌊 👉 Read it here: https://lnkd.in/eZGtHGU8

Let's talk about #API call limits. #Spotify has a 100 song limit per API call, so to get all the songs in my playlist of 485 songs, I have to do 5 API calls. No wonder it takes awhile to make a new playlist. Does this seem right? 😅 I’m thinking about moving the call to get all songs to trigger when the playlist is selected rather than when the user creates the playlist. With that change I can make those 5 API calls happen in the background while the user selects a genre so making a new playlist will seem like its running MUCH faster. The code in the pictures is how I’m looping over the calls to get each response. #frontend #buildinpublic #React

Choose your foundations wisely. Technology is no different to construction. One critical choice had to be made early at the beginning of Octomind. We could either write a test automation framework from scratch or build our tooling on top of an established end-to-end testing library. We decided to go with the latter and spend our time and energy on what we do best - AI. We picked Playwright - an open source framework backed by Microsoft. Why? ¹ Playwright is supported by the developer community. Drop by any dev forum and see what people recommend for e2e test automation. ² Playwright is open source and free to use ³ Playwright is here to stay. Microsoft does a decent job with VS Code and Typescript to trust that assumption. Read more in Daniel Roedler’s summary of Playwright https://lnkd.in/dHk8tVRs #testautomation

I betrayed the dark mode community and changed hearitfresh default theme to light mode, it just looks better, I'm sorry. Since I changed it to Next.js, things run more smoothly and I can add more useful features. Maybe relaunch on product hunt What feature would you want it to have?
