If you cannot measure it, you cannot manage it! Since 2019, the Global Green Growth Institute introduced the #GreenGrowthIndex, a tool that helps our Member and Partner States to measure their performance in achieving sustainability goals that support nature-based solutions and enhanced adaptation capacities. Its framework emphasizes four dimensions linked to #GreenGrowth, including efficient and sustainable resource use, natural capital protection, green economic opportunities, and social inclusion. The #GreenGrowthIndex is developed in partnership with several international, government, and academic institutions as well as international experts from various fields relevant to the four green growth dimensions. With the Green Growth Index, GGGI is contributing to the growing collaboration among policymakers, practitioners, and stakeholders in finding a common framework and policy-relevant indicators to measure green growth performance. Through such collaborative efforts, we aim to support countries to successfully manage their #GreenGrowth transitions. AMAZON , Don’t destroy AMAZON Our forests are disappearing at an alarming rate. Over the past few decades, we've witnessed the devastating impact of deforestation, with millions of acres of lush, vibrant ecosystems being cleared for various purposes. This alarming trend not only destroys the natural habitats of countless species but also contributes to climate change, soil erosion, and the disruption of vital water cycles. It's time we take action to protect and restore our precious forests and oceans and finally Earth before it's too late. Our CEO, Chinua Azubike will be speaking at the Economist Impact’s Sustainability Week Africa - happening today and tomorrow in Cape town, where global leaders will come together to discuss next steps to accelerate Africa's journey towards sustainability. Particularly, he will participate in a Fireside Chat later today, alongside a beneficiary of InfraCredit’s green guarantee under its Clean Energy Funding Programme, to discuss "Mobilising sustainable finance from local institutions in Africa: how to de-risk long-term investments to enable private capital at scale?" The discussion will address the questions; -What is the potential for African-based institutions to provide long-term sustainable finance in local currency to support local projects? -How can these institutions help bridge the gap between the perceived and real risk, in order to drive sustainable finance? -Exploring some real-world examples, is there potential to copy this approach to de-risking investments across Africa? 🌍 During winter school with prof Leenta Grobler we disscused Sustainable Development Goals: So here is what I think Should Be A Roadmap for South African Businesses 🇿🇦 In today’s ever-changing world, sustainability is no longer just a buzzword—it's a strategic advantage. Aligning with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) offers South African business owners an incredible opportunity to future-proof their operations while driving positive social and environmental change. Why should South African businesses care? ✅ Access to New Markets: Businesses that prioritize sustainability can unlock international markets and partnerships, especially in regions where sustainability is a key criterion. ✅ Increased Efficiency: Implementing sustainable practices often leads to cost-saving innovations, whether through energy efficiency, waste reduction, or streamlined supply chains. ✅ Attracting Investment: Investors are increasingly looking for businesses that prioritize ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) factors. Embracing SDGs can make your business more attractive for investment and funding. ✅ Brand Reputation: Companies with strong sustainability initiatives build trust and loyalty among consumers who are becoming more conscious about their buying choices. How to integrate the SDGs into your business strategy? 🌱 Goal 7: Affordable and Clean Energy – Embrace renewable energy sources like solar power to reduce energy costs and your carbon footprint. 🌱 Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth – Invest in skill development and fair employment practices to uplift local communities and drive economic growth. 🌱 Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production – Adopt circular economy models to minimize waste, ensuring sustainable use of resources. The SDGs offer a practical framework to drive long-term success while making a meaningful difference. It’s time for South African businesses to not only contribute to sustainable growth but also leverage these opportunities for future competitiveness and resilience. Let’s turn sustainability into profit and purpose! 🌱💼 #Sustainability #SDGs #SouthAfrica #BusinessGrowth #FutureProof
