Strike Labs didn’t start out to be the application development shop for unique units within the Department of Defense, the intelligence community, and their supporting industries. It was formed as a way to protect the new ideas our founder, John Casano, dreamed up while he was co-CEO of—and raised funds for—Paragon Intel. But after 5 years, and being involved in more events than we ever expected, things changed, and our name got around. We've built strong relationships with incredible partners and have done our fair share when called upon. Other companies make more money, are better known, or build tools used by more people. That’s not Strike Labs, and it never has been. We know our role, and believe we serve it well. We’re the ones who solve the hard problems and quickly build mission-specific software that may only last as long as the mission. And that’s totally cool with us; legacy is not our jam. We’re not in it for money or fame. We don’t talk about our clients or much about our work. We don't like big primes like Deloitte Government & Public Services (and big primes don’t like us). We detest bureaucracy and being unproductive. We work outside of traditional processes and are able to do things others can't quickly because of it. Ask around in the right circles, and people will probably have an opinion about us. And so, on our 5th birthday, we want to say to our friends, our team, our clients, and sponsors—thank you for your unwavering support. Here’s to another 5 years of doing good work together. Thanks for allowing us to do what we do. We would not want to be doing anything else.

In 2000 I bought a one-way ticket from Denmark to the US. In that time: Lived through: ✅ 3.5 recessions ✅ A global pandemic ✅ Countless terrorist attacks ✅ Several wars And I’ve been laid off a few times. First in 2000 when my first company folded in the dotcom crash. And then in 2006 when my company ran out of money. This was 2 months before my son was born, and it was terrifying. But somehow, we have way more grit and resilience than we initially give ourselves credit for. For me personally, these were moments that gave me clarity about what I wanted in life, clarity about who I wanted to be, and clarity in doing everything I could to manifest that. The person you become on the other side of hardship is usually 10x better than the person you were before. So here’s to all of you who are going through hard times. They don’t last forever. And they will make you stronger. We are all rooting for you. #throwbackthursday #resilience #determination

So, like a lot of other people in the tech industry I have been thinking about what happened with Crowd Strike. What change can be made in the industry to make sure small mistakes do not cause so much damage again. I have two words, BETA TEST! Why was this change rolled out to everyone all at once? In the future, first deploy all changes to a small subset of customers who run non critical systems. Allow those customers to have some preferential treatment (reduced price, higher level of support...) in exchange for their willingness to be the first subjects to experience new and unproven features. I know, it is always easier to step in after the fact and say what should have been done. But, as I have not yet seen any mention of the need for beta testing, I thought it should be mentioned.

🚀 Exciting News Alert! 🌟 Today, I'm back in the real-estate space, starting something new. Back in 2021, I joined Strike to shake up the industry, and you know what? We kind of did. In the end, Strike acquired Purplebricks, which was a really big and exciting thing, but I decided to move on - it wasn't a journey I wanted to go on. But, that taste left me wanting more. I wanted to solve even more customer challenges and move the property industry away from the status quo. What happens now? I start working on designing something new and exciting, which hopefully helps solve some of the major challenges facing buyers and sellers in the real estate sector.

This case is a powerful lesson in understanding the complexities of workplace movements, especially within industries as dynamic as gaming. It’s also a reminder of what it takes to make real change when facing corporate giants. Think SMARTER, not harder. My old boss taught me this adage about 22 years ago. I have used it ever since. I still remember the first time I used it in my OWN business. When I first started my company, I found myself giving the same demonstration of Wink, Inc.'s AnnuitySpecs tool over and over and over again. And then- I decided to work smarter. Instead of spending fifteen minutes of demo time, 20 times a day, I recorded a demo, and directed folks to my website to watch it. This allowed me to work on growing a new segment of my business: "Wink's Sales & Market Report." And what do you know? More people subscribed to my website than I was able to capture personally, on the phone. In the most recent issue of Broker World, my friend Charlie Gipple, CFP®, CLU®, ChFC® of CG Financial Group, LLC gives some similarly great suggestions for working smarter, not harder. #ThinkSmarterNotHarder #BrokerWorld #CGFinancialGroup #Wink #WinkIntel #AnnuitySpecs #WinksSalesAndMarketReport #Storytelling #IntelRockstar
