This week we continue our #25thAnniversary celebration by looking back at a pivotal milestone in our early days, the acquisition of the #CourageousLakeProject. Back in 2002, we had set a corporate objective to increase our total resources for all projects above 10 million ounces of gold. Acquiring Courageous Lake helped us exceed that. Today, Seabridge has surpassed the 2002 goal, as we now have 103.5 million ounces of gold (measured and indicated). Looking back on the acquisition of Courageous Lake, CEO Rudi Fronk had this to say: “In the early years, our game plan was to buy projects for $1 per oz of gold in the ground in North America. We bought Courageous Lake's 5.7 million ounces in 2002 for $US2.5 million, a 2% royalty and another $US2.5 million if the gold price rose to specific targets. We also met our second criterion...exploration upside with 53 km of mineralized greenstone belt. Today, Courageous Lake is a much larger, more valuable economic asset.
