BLEED ON IT CIC workplace supper club at RBC 🍁 This event was focused on how we can work WITH our hormones rather than swimming up stream against them, via the vast and fascinating topic of 🫐 🌱 Nutrition 🌱🫐 We started by thinking about the 4 phases of the cycle as a foundation for the evening which led into the serving of our first course from the Bleed On It menu, designed with the foods that pack a nutritious punch to our hormones in each week of the cycle 🍽️ We had guests with varying degrees of connection to the topic in an array of different cycles - pregnancy, menstruation, peri-menopause, post menopause and the content of the event was relevant to all of them!! Nutritional therapist Natasha Evans @nenutrition joined me for the event to give a fact packed talk breaking down how to work with our blood sugar, gut microbiome and hormones to have optimal energy, great sleep and digestion - pretty important when working long hours is a major part of most people’s lives. Some key takeaways from Tash’s talk: ▫️Supplementing with zinc *can* help with copper coil symptoms (check with a nutritionist or health professional first to look at the full picture) ▪️ Getting to know our blood sugar can be game changing for energy, sleep, mood and overall hormone levels ▫️ Breakfast really IS the most important meal of the day. Start this with a balance of healthy fats, carbs and protein and your gut microbiome and hormones will show you their thanks by working optimally 🙌🏼 ▪️SLEEP is arguably the most important lifestyle element to manage for healthy hormone production and secretion Food is a universal language and I LOVE using this a way to reach and teach about menstrual cycles and hormones. Thankyou to the Royal Bank of Canada for offering your employees something different, Natasha Evans for coming on board, Hannah Martin for the unwavering support and Neals Yard, TOTM & Wear 'em Out for gifting 💝!!
