Wishing you a very Merry Christmas and a joyful holiday season! 🎄🌟
If you’re taking a stroll by the Alster around the change of the year, take some time for a small detour. Through 25 January our Stern-Wywiol Galerie will be showing works by Matthias Garff and Thomas Putze that awaken prosaic objects to new life, creating birds, mammals, amphibians and insects from discarded objects. As if by magic, bits of cable become beaks and random pieces of wood become bodies. What sorcery is this?
You’ll find the Gallery in Hamburg at An der Alster 81 next to the Hotel Atlantic. Opening hours are Tue-Fri 10:00-18:00 and Sat. 12:00-16:00. Closed 24 and 31 Dec. and 1 Jan.

A-Z: Gallery
| ˈɡal(ə)rē | noun |
1. Originally, gallery referred to any covered passage that was open at one side, usually with a colonnade. In this sense, the gallery was an inherently liminal space, somewhere between the public and private spheres.
2. Later, gallery came to refer to any room or building for displaying art, especially a museum. Some of the most famous museums in the world, like the Galleria degli Uffizi in Florence and the National Gallery in London, are still known by this name.
3. Later still, gallery came to refer to commercial galleries. This is the narrowest sense of the word and the most private of these liminal spaces. For many, the word “gallery” conjures up images of sterile white cubes with painfully contemporary art and hostile model types at the front desk.

🎭 Venetian Icons Come to Life: A Fusion of History and Technology in the Heart of Venice
Imagine standing before Marco Polo, Titian, or Vivaldi, watching as they animate before your eyes, sharing stories of Venice's rich past. This autumn, that dream became reality with
"Anime di Venezia - Souls of Venice", a groundbreaking augmented reality (AR) exhibition that's redefining how we experience art and history.
This installation, by renowned Italian artist Lorenzo Quinn, includes 15 painstakingly crafted statues of Venetian icons made of intricate metallic mesh weave. But here's where it gets truly magical: through a dedicated AR app, these static figures spring to life, offering a uniquely immersive journey through Venice's cultural legacy.
👉Location: The stunning Ca' Rezzonico, an 18th-century museum overlooking the Grand Canal
👉Technology meets tradition: Quinn's first foray into AR, blending contemporary tech with historical sculptures
👉Cultural significance: Commemorates the 700th anniversary of Marco Polo's death
👉Timing: Coincides with the 60th Venice Biennale, further cementing Venice's place in the contemporary art world
As a professional in digital communications, I'm fascinated by how this exhibition bridges the gap between past and present. It's a brilliant example of how technology can enhance our connection to history and culture, making it more accessible and engaging for modern audiences.
This innovative approach to storytelling and historical preservation opens up exciting possibilities for education, tourism, and cultural preservation. Imagine similar applications in museums worldwide, bringing artefacts and historical figures to life in ways we've never seen before.

Florida’s Art Institutions Begin Recovery After Hurricanes Helene and Milton
In the wake of Hurricanes Helene and Milton, Florida’s art organizations are coming together to begin the long process of recovery. Museums, galleries, and cultural institutions have faced not only physical damage but also logistical challenges in preserving their collections. The storms brought unprecedented challenges, but they also demonstrated the resilience of the art community, with organizations focusing on protecting their artworks, heritage, and digital archives.
This moment highlights the importance of disaster preparedness in the cultural sector. Digital solutions, like 3D scanning and digital twins, could be key in helping institutions safeguard their collections, ensuring that priceless works of art and history are preserved even in the face of natural disasters.

A lot of lengthy planning goes into designing tours for museums & galleries
Aside for gauging audience ages, language barriers and site management, there is a host of other elements that needs to be factored in 👇🏽
🟠 Pinch Points: 🎯
Are there parts of the site that have narrower corridors & gathering areas?
If yes, the tour speed and amount of content available for those areas needs to be tightened down to ensure access doesn’t get blocked and that visitors continue to move through at a decent pace.
🟠 Trip Hazards: ⚠️
Stair cases, displays and furniture all need to be reckoned with when designing the tours. This ensures that visitors aren’t distracted by available content at points where extra attention is required.
🟠 Sun Traps: ☀️
Does part of the tour cover the exterior grounds?
If yes, are the visitors exposed to the sun for extended periods of time? This can be a challenge for many, and designing the tour to ensure that visitors are not held up in uncomfortable spots for extended periods of time is critical.
Its for the above reasons and many more that Acoustiguide Limited comes onboard at very early stages to fully grasp every aspect of the museum or gallery we are building content for.
This enables us to design cutting edge tours that harmonise both the physical and virtual dimensions of our partner sites.
