Thanks for sharing, InOff Plastic ! Unfortunately #businessasusual and #profitability continue to drive #bigbusiness. For years, promises have been made to us about them taking it seriously; meanwhile they’re making the same old stuff the same old way driven simply by #greed 👎🏻 For their future, our future, the planet’s future, they have the opportunity to lead the way. As consumers we can certainly meet them in this journey by supporting the companies that really do make better things. However, businesses make this all the more difficult with #marketing and #greenwashing tactics. At Carom our intention is to build a #livingmarketplace to drive us toward a #livingeconomy. Join us and support what should be the work of our lives - it certainly will be that for our children.
🌍 Rethinking Corporate Responsibility in the Fight Against Climate Change 🌿 In a thought-provoking read by Jeremy Thomas on Medium, the spotlight is turned towards the giants of industry and their monumental role in our environmental crisis. As individuals, our efforts to curb plastic use and reduce our carbon footprint are necessary, yet they pale in comparison to the impact that major corporations can have. 🏭💡 The article pinpoints major contributors to global carbon emissions and plastic pollution, including Chevron, Exxon, BP, Shell, Coca-Cola, PepsiCo, and Nestlé, emphasizing that true change requires a systemic shift in corporate practices. It's not just about opting for sustainable products but about a fundamental transformation in how companies produce, package, and dispose of their goods. Thomas advocates for a move towards Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), circular economy practices, and significant reductions in packaging waste as steps companies can take to shoulder their environmental responsibilities. 🔄♻️ As we champion a future where sustainability is at the core of every business decision, this piece serves as a crucial reminder: it's time for companies to step up, take accountability, and lead the charge in creating a greener, more sustainable world. What are your thoughts on how corporations can better integrate sustainability into their practices? Have you come across companies that are leading by example? Share your insights and let's drive this vital conversation forward. #Sustainability #CorporateResponsibility #EnvironmentalImpact

Environmental Sustainability: Even If You Change The Route, Keep The Destination: There’s a school of thought which writes most sustainability efforts off as annoying virtue signaling: consumers with time and disposable income choose to pay a green premium for products that make them feel good, and companies plant trees and recycle coffee cups to make those customers like them. As costs rise, belts tighten, and we […] http://dlvr.it/TGqMnJ

I would like to thank the Copenhagen Business School Green Transition Office and the CBS Leadership Centre for hosting a fantastic event at the CBS Green Business Forum. During my session, which I had the honor of facilitating, we discussed the challenges and opportunities of leading toward sustainable and circular futures. Together with three distinguished speakers, we examined various paths of packaging solutions to attain distant sustainability goals. Many thanks to Lise Berg Kildemark, Louise Lerche-Gredal, Simon Boas Hoffmeyer, and the audience for a fascinating and stimulating conversation. From the panel debate, I take away that leading toward sustainable and circular futures requires organizations to embrace uncertainties, e.g., dealing with solutions that are not yet in existence and managing exogenous changes such as war or other crises. It also includes navigating complexities such as various markets and systems and interrelated environmental crises such as plastic pollution, biodiversity loss, and climate change. Instead of trying to overcome uncertainties and complexities, organizations must learn how to organize with them. According to the panel, this can be achieved by 🎯 various approaches such as innovation, trial and error, and taking small and big steps to enable change, 🎯 combined attention to multiple solutions, where recycling is just one of many solutions, and reduction and reuse solutions are equally important, and 🎯 taking all stakeholders on the sustainability journey through incentives, communication, and legislation. We still have much work to do, so let's get started!
