Reflecting on Company Culture During the Holidays For me, Christmas is a big deal. As I navigate adulthood, I’ve come to accept that work plays a significant role in shaping our lives. This phase of pursuing career advancement and professional growth is important—not just for me but for many others too. As I reflect on whether I’m in the right organization, I ask myself a few key questions: is the Christmas season treated as a meaningful occasion? Does the company care enough to give its employees time to be with their families? Have they taken the time to ask about our plans, both personally and professionally? How do they celebrate the season? And in the spirit of diversity, do they acknowledge different beliefs and traditions, perhaps through inclusive or religious activities? Is the birth of Jesus, a big deal? When these questions don’t have clear or thoughtful answers, it raises concerns for me. It’s not about receiving a Christmas basket or a bonus—don’t get me wrong, those gestures are appreciated. But what truly matters is how the organization values and celebrates this season. It reflects the company’s culture, its priorities, and how much it genuinely respects and cares for its people. Greetings and festive messages are lovely, but they can feel hollow without actions that back them up. What stands out is how a company demonstrates its values during this time of year. For me, Christmas isn’t just another holiday—it’s a lens through which I understand the heart of an organization. Which Makes Me Reflect The Christmas season has always been a time to feel the warmth and generosity of a company that values its people. In past roles, I’ve seen firsthand how organizations go above and beyond—not just with what they give but with how they show appreciation, foster community, and celebrate togetherness. This year, I find myself reflecting on a starkly different experience. The contrast is... eye-opening. It makes me wonder: Is this simply a different kind of corporate culture? -- or is this a real transition away from values that emphasize shared celebration and employee appreciation during the holidays? It’s not just about material gifts or grand gestures. It’s about being seen, valued, and cared for—something I believe forms the foundation of a thriving workplace.
