24 Hours of Code, Coffee, and Creativity: The Justt Hackathon Experience 🚀 What happens when you mix commercial teams with developers for a full 24-hour sprint? Pure innovation (and mild sleep deprivation). At Justt's annual hackathon, our team tackled the challenge of optimizing our industry events strategy - from identifying the right events to attend and allocating budgets, to maximizing our networking impact. Between intense coding sessions and strategy discussions, we experienced what can only be described as a food marathon disguised as a tech event (shoutout to Gal Ophir for keeping us alive with everything from midnight pizza to 6 AM cookies!). The best part for me? Working with new faces! Since my direct team isn't based in Israel, most of my work is remote. This hackathon gave me a unique opportunity to collaborate with talented colleagues I see in the office but rarely work with: Tsuf Israeli - Our visionary team captain who shaped our project and presented it brilliantly Dennis Avshalom - Our data wizard who normalized our chaos (and kindly overlooked my Excel struggles!) Elad Levy - For opening my eyes to the amazing capabilities of Claude AI Ido Borer - Our senior dev extraordinaire who built a stunning UI for our Event Master Product Key Takeaways: 1. My all-nighter recovery time isn't what it used to be 😅 2. It's amazing what a motivated team can build in 24 hours (with enough sugar) 3. Third place is nice, but next year's crown is ours 👑 Thanks to Yuri Binshtok for running this incredible show. Vision to Victory: How We Built an Industry-Standard Solution at #BellForBetter X #BrainStation 24hrs Hackathon In the fast-paced world of tech, it's one thing to learn skills—but it's another to apply them in a way that drives real impact. Recently, at the #BellForBetter X #BrainStation Industry Project Hackathon, my team and I stood out to do just that. Our challenge? To develop a tool that fosters engagement and awareness for employees, customers, and Canadian communities across Bell’s network. Our solution went beyond expectations, impressing judges and ultimately securing us the #WinningTeam title among 9 competing teams. We didn’t just code—we researched, strategized, prototyped, designed, and developed a scalable #Frontend and #Backend product that aligns with Bell’s mission to serve its communities. This project gave me the chance to flex my #SoftwareDevelopment #UXUIDesign skills, and truly see how powerful tech can be when it’s created with purpose. Now, let’s talk about how to introduce yourself effectively, whether you're at an in-person or hybrid/virtual hackathon. Introducing yourself in the proper way is very crucial. In my experience, I’ve seen many people give just a one-line intro, leaving us with little knowledge about them or their skills; this makes it harder to find like-minded teammates. Here's an introduction template that you can use, regardless of in-person or hybrid/virtual hackathon 🗣️ Template: "Hi, I'm [Your Name]. I'm a [Your Role, e.g., full stack developer, designer, project manager, etc.] with experience in [Key Skills, e.g., Python, UX design]. I'm really excited about this hackathon because [Reason, e.g., I'm passionate about AI and machine learning, I want to learn new things, etc]. I'm looking to team up with people who are interested in [Specific Area or Goal, e.g., developing innovative healthcare solutions]." Note: If its a virtual hackathon, be sure to include your time zone in your introduction as well, so teammates can coordinate effectively. When introducing yourself, keep it concise and highlight your key skills and goals. This will effectively set the stage for successful collaborations.
