#FIDI: The 2024 Edition of the FIDI Professional Cooperation Guidelines (PCGs) were approved in the Delegate's Meeting, during the FIDI Conference in Edinburgh. They replace the 2020 version with immediate effect. Existing chapters have been revised, and new ones introduced such as the Abandoned Cargo section to help the FIDI Community operate in a clear, process driven way. 🔶 Find the 2024 PCG's here : https://lnkd.in/e2FAFj-u Key changes in a nutshell : packing list guidelines, abandoned cargo, video surveys, communication timelines for unforeseen charges, deviation of delivery, validity period and new clear timelines when disputing an invoice. A big thank you to the FIDI PCG Committee; that is 21 industry volunteers representing 16 affiliated companies, 16 countries and 7 geographical regions. SEBI has reduced the bond face value to just Rs 10,000 Now, What does this mean? → It means more accessibility, → more flexibility, and → more opportunities for retail investors! To enhance the participation of non-institutional investors in the bond market while safeguarding their interests, SEBI has approved the proposal to offer NCDs or NCRPS through private placement mode at the reduced face value of Rs 10,000. In alignment with these changes, SEBI mandates the appointment of a Merchant Banker, for private placement of Non-Convertible Debentures (NCDs) and Non-Convertible Redeemable Preference Shares (NCRPS). Furthermore, NCDs and NCRPS shall be plain dividend-bearing instruments with credit enhancements permitted in such instruments. By making bonds more accessible, SEBI isn't just opening doors for individual investors, it's fueling economic growth at scale. Progress made by the South African Revenue Service (Sars) in digitally advancing its services has resulted in other government agencies (OGA) lagging behind in following suit with processes and systems. Port Health, the State Vet, the National Regulator for Compulsory Specifications (NRCS) and the National Consumer Commission (NCC), to name a few, rely almost entirely on manual applications and processes. The NRCS processes an application for a Letter Of Authority in 90 days, and the NCC may take as long as three months to finalise a case after goods have been detained. This currently causes delays, additional costs and frustration for traders. As for Sars’ national single window (NSW) initiative, OGAs not linked to the NSW would have to be considered a non-tariff trade barrier, which would conflict with the revenue collector’s vision of trade facilitation. NCBA released its FY23 results, recording a 57.8%y/y rise in EPS to KES 13.00 with net income coming in at KES 21.4bn. The performance comes on the back of a 12.8%y/y growth in net interest income (NII) to KES 34.6bn. Non funded income (NIR) for the period under review declined 3.9%y/y to KES 29.1bn translating to a top line of KES 63.7bn (+4.5% y/y). #SIBResearch
