Peer support happens when people use their own experience to help each other. 💚 You've likely been a peer to someone if you've simply been present during tough times. You can support others by letting them know you are a safe space and willing to listen. How do you support people during tough times? #peersupport #ThomasMWernertCenter #RecoveryTogether

Have you ever sat in a meeting where you feel you aren't valued as a team member? Where the speaker is engrossed in sharing their ideas without input from the team? I've often found myself bored and unproductive in those situations hoping for a quick end to those meetings. I guess, I've never been one to be told what to do (just ask my family). I've always wanted to be part of the process. News flash...our children feel the same way when we talk at them. They, too, want to be part of the process. To be a voice and share their thoughts. As parents, it's important to listen to our children and problem-solve together. Several things happen when we do this: 👍 Our children have agency over their thoughts and behavior 👍 Our children become critical thinkers as they process different options 👍 Our children become better communicators 👍 Our children have a stronger sense of self and confidence This weekend, find a few minutes with talk with your child and watch their faces light up! For more insight into creating a positive relationship with your child, check out my books at https://lnkd.in/eZ-uhugs.
