May we never forget that freedom isn't free. Today we give our deepest gratitude to those who paid the ultimate sacrifice. Covering approximately 27 million acres of land, our nation’s military bases help support ecologically important habitats. One great example is Fort Riley, a five-square-mile Army base in the Flint Hills of Kansas. In addition to the Army’s First Infantry Division, Fort Riley hosts a population of greater prairie-chickens, which, like other grassland-obligate species, thrive in treeless grasslands. To wake up and hear the news that we lost another United States Marine from our unit (2nd Battalion 7th Marines) is gut wrenching. This marks #59 to date and nothing about this makes it easy to stomach. #RIPClintStephens Everyone has a role to play- small things are BIG! As a great colleague of mine has shared (Matthew Miller, PHD, MPH) "we must "humbly increase knowledge beyond what we think we "know", broaden awareness beyond personal biases, and enhance our ability to deliver inclusive prevention, intervention, and postvention programs for ALL Veterans. Emphasizing that suicide is preventable, the event underscored the need for a public health approach that considers both individuals and communities." We as a community must continue to leverage our relationships, our networks, our resources.. you name it we must amplify the **** out of all of them! Use every channel possible to share! There are more than 700 U.S. #military sites known or likely to be contaminated with #PFAS (aka "forever chemicals") linked to life-altering illnesses. "Like you had burn pits in Iraq and like you had Agent Orange in Vietnam, but this happened on American soil. And not only did it happen to the veterans," but it happened to their families. And like with burn pits and Agent Orange, #veterans who were made ill due to exposure to PFAS deserve justice--before it's too late. If you recall a few months ago, the United States Marine Corps released their latest #DoDSkillBridge instruction which mirrored the Navy's. It was rescinded within a few days because it wasn't actually "approved". Well, now it is approved. Most of us think about #SkillBridge from the service member perspective. But there are other perspectives to consider... ✅ The military will remain the military, and each CO has a certain level of readiness to maintain with their Unit ✅ #SkillBridgeOpportunities are a luxury and not a right. Each service member should understand that they'll be transitioning at some point, and utilize the other programs available to them (i.e. COOL) in order to best prepare themselves for Life 2.0 ➡️➡️ While I won't ague against the need for transitioning resources for the military community, what other industry / job / or company do you know of that is willing to pay you full-time and not receive any immediate benefit from doing so❓❓ It's not cheap to keep a service member employed and not receive a direct benefit of their employment 💯 There's still a need for the DOD to narrow down who should be participating in the program. #SkillBridge wasn't designed to support 200K #TransitioningServiceMembers each year. It was originally designed to support service members who have MOS's that don't specifically translate into civilian work. If you do cyber, and want to continue doing cyber post military, consider your #SkillBridge approval a gift. If you're a tank driver, or Boatswain Mate, #SkillBridge was designed for you. Do you get it yet America? “the Marxist DEM Biden/Harris regime is the first and only political party in American history to announce that its top priority is not for U.S. citizens, but for non-U.S. citizens” The overarching long-term open borders reset plan has always been to replace free American sovereign citizens with questionable immigrants to dilute the population and garner welfare votes. The U.S. census counts all residents, including the 16+ million uneducated non-English speaking criminal illegal aliens, for apportioning House seats and federal funds. That amounts to one party rule by the next census, and bingo, America becomes California and Communist.
