Did you know that over 38,000 young people aged 15–24 years presented alone to a homelessness service in 2022–23? Of these young people, almost half experienced mental ill-health, and over one-third experienced domestic and family violence. Most of these young people needed short- or long-term accommodation, and most were turned away due to a lack of capacity. These statistics only scratch the surface of issues that young people experiencing homelessness face. To have statistics like this in a country like Australia is not acceptable; together, we can have a tangible impact, and now is the time to act. #wehavetodobetter #YHMD

Matter is Riding to End Youth Homelessness On November 15th, we’re joining the Healesville Tour de PIF: Tour for Homeless Youth - a cycling challenge dedicated to raising funds to provide young Australians facing homelessness with a safe, secure home. Every night, 46,000 young people experience homelessness and half of them are turned away from accommodation services. Through the Property Industry Foundation, we have a chance to make a real difference. Every donation helps build much-needed housing and provides ongoing support for young people in need. Atlantans are currently spending 42% of their income on rent, leaving them vulnerable to homelessness after even a single crisis. This situation requires us all to take action, so we launched FreeRentATL to bring awareness to the widening wealth gap and offer crucial support to struggling renting families in Atlanta. Through our nonprofit we give these families a hand up, to help stabilize them and provide services that help them succeed and avoid future housing jeopardy. This year seven amazing families are receiving free rent for an entire year, in addition to financial literacy, food, and mental health and well-being services. The #wealthiest municipalities in two of NJ's largest counties, send local youth in crisis to the #poorest municipalities in the state. I have a problems with this. Forcing youth to leave their #community, school, peers, and self-created support systems hours away in an unknown area makes them afraid to get help. We are in the midst of an #adolescent mental health crisis. Abusive relationships, drug and alcohol use, #suicide, and homelessness are increasing tremendously among our youth. They need safe places to turn. #Safe places for mental care. Opportunities for youth and families to work on preventing further crisis. CLCL Foundation cannot be that without you.
