We are officially a B Corp 📣 🎉 We’re incredibly proud to announce that Lesniak Swann has joined the ranks of some of the UK’s most responsible companies to become a B Corp (B Lab UK). We’ve joined an exclusive list of 16 B2B marketing agencies who are B Corp, fundamentally shifting how we work to prioritise operating in a wholly purpose-driven way, while aspiring to do no harm and benefit all. B Corp certification is an intense process, which saw our Account Director Jo Holdcroft spend more than 500 hours collating evidence for over 150 criteria to achieve the certification. This included details on how we have created a positive workplace experience for employees, and the process for choosing suppliers ethically, whilst also making operational and behavioural changes to support a low carbon footprint. We’re incredibly proud of this award and in joining a global community with a clear mission to create a better world, and for creating a positive workplace experience for all our colleagues, customers and partners. My only gripe with awards in our industry (and this includes ourselves when we've entered and won), is how can you be crowned the best agency or campaign in your category, if the awarding body haven't considered all agencies and campaigns? I get you need to be in it to win it, and it costs substantially to even enter (let alone attend). But there's a lot of great independents and small agencies who can't afford these things for obvious reasons - and it'll be harder than ever now considering the NI increases. As I always tell new prospects. Judge us by the results we produce & what our clients say - not on how many awards we've won. Are awards outdated? Let me know your thoughts below 👇 So

Am sure most of us have participated industry awards which seek to recognize the best among us in different categories. mostly we are asked to nominate and vote. The question is how objectives are this ranking? This ranking at the end of the day are popular competition than a merit based ranking. what are your views on this awards?

I keep winning awards! I am constantly getting messages and emails about awards I am nominated for or have won. Most award shows have become a very false and paid for business. It's a pay to play business usually make no mistake. We all push this narrative of "award-winning".. If it's genuine, kudos. But typically it's just a money spinner. Buy x tables and x numbers of seats. And you'll magically win the award 😅 Most awards shows from my experience are usually created by businesses within that industry. Who are looking for revenue, clients, networking etc. Have you experienced this?

Some Friday thoughts from Lucy on sales and marketing in #lawfirms.
Activating growth in Law firms & Professional Services | LinkedIn & Sales Navigator Enablement | CRM Technologies & Key Client Strategy | Host of “The Death of Salesman Podcast
Should your BD teams be trained in sales? This was a question asked by Lucy Rao at the Burlington Media Group Briefing Marketing & BD Leaders panel discussion today, the exam question: "One mind - engaging lawyers in with the sales process". All of the panel agreed with a resounding "yes". Your BD team should be trained in sales behaviours as well as your lawyers, on the same curriculum. When they are all trained in the same approach, using the same language and frameworks, everyone is on the same page. My thanks to Charlotte Sansom, Sadie Baron & Amanda Stoner who were on the panel today; we didn't hold back. Thank you to Matt Skipper for Chairing and giving us the freedom to talk openly about what needs to change. My thanks to Helen Danzey for bringing us all together. My final thanks to Mark Philbrick for thinking of me for this, I really do appreciate it as the outsider being allowed in. #activator

We've seen many local Chambers of Commerce struggle to grow top line revenue. Part of the reason is that Chamber execs and their Boards don't understand the limits of Membership Dues as a revenue source, and they don't know how three key three metrics influence operational decisions. The three key metrics are: Membership Retention Rate, New Members per Year, and Market Penetration Rate. This 4-minute video is the last of our 6-part series called The Numbers on Membership. Let me know if this resonates with you. We'd love to hear what you're doing in this area of your operation. Chamber on!

It's easier to attract customers when they believe you to be an expert in your field, and an award can really help with that. More reasons why awards are good for business here: https://bit.ly/30rb3rs #biztips
