As a veteran, I understand that Memorial Day can be a bit confusing to navigate. It’s more than just a long weekend; it’s a time to honor and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. If you're wondering how to truly celebrate Memorial Day tomorrow, here are a few meaningful ways: 🇺🇸Visit a Memorial or Cemetery: Pay your respects by visiting a local memorial or cemetery. Placing flowers or flags on the graves of fallen soldiers is a powerful gesture of remembrance. 🇺🇸Attend a Memorial Day Ceremony: Many communities hold ceremonies or parades to honor the fallen. Participating in these events can be a heartfelt way to show your respect and gratitude. 🇺🇸Pause for a Moment of Silence: At 3 PM local time, join the National Moment of Remembrance. It’s a small act, but a collective pause can have a big impact. 🇺🇸Support Veterans: Consider donating to organizations that support veterans and their families. It’s a way to give back and ensure that their legacy lives on through continued support. 🇺🇸Share Stories and Memories: If you know a veteran or have family members who served, take the time to listen to their stories or share memories of those who are no longer with us. 🇺🇸Display the Flag: Fly the American flag at half-staff until noon, then raise it to full staff until sunset. It’s a traditional way to honor those who have fallen in the morning and salute living veterans in the afternoon. Remember, Memorial Day is about more than barbecues and beach trips (though I love those too!). It's a day to reflect, honor, and remember. #supportourveterans #veteranshelpingveterans #veteransupport #veteranlife #specialforces #supportourtroops

It's #NationalDonutDay! What's your favorite kind of donut? Let us know in the comments. Every year on the first Friday of June, Americans celebrate National Donut Day to honor the Salvation Army Lassies, the women who served doughnuts to soldiers during the First World War to lift their spirits. This tradition began in Chicago in 1938. We "donut" know what we would do without all of our wonderful clients! #GJMAccounting #accountingandaccountants #smallbusiness

Appropriately today, we honor our brave Veterans, who served & sacrificed for our country and fought for the many freedoms we all have and in all too many instances, take for granted. Yet today is only 1 day out of 365 in the year. In a respectful way only, perhaps consider cutting out a few Starbucks or something else you can do without, to support their physical & mental health throughout the year, by contributing a few dollars a month, to the below organizations who do good work. Words are easy, actions speak louder. https://lnkd.in/giu4ymyH https://lnkd.in/g-Gzs7yM https://t2t.org/ https://lnkd.in/gfeMHCNq https://help.dav.org/

Something I’ve learned about myself recently is that it takes a lot of guts to lay the groundwork for what could be a game-changing nonprofit for military families. I’ve found the courage to leap into this entrepreneurial journey, and I’m excited to share it with you. After navigating numerous challenges, I felt a strong desire to help others facing similar struggles. That's how The OCONUS Project was born. Our mission is to empower and support military families living overseas by providing vital resources, fostering community connections, and advocating for their unique needs. To kickstart this initiative, I need to hear from YOU—military spouses and service members who have lived or are currently living overseas. With the help of some fantastic supporters, we’ve crafted a survey to gather essential data that will enhance our mission and strengthen our advocacy efforts. 💥 Take the survey here: https://lnkd.in/gRxG29UB Special shoutout to Beth Conlin, MBA, my newest advisor/mentor! I can't wait to see how we can work together to make the project the best it can be. Also dropping a shoutout to Surinder Goode for the continued support. If this resonates with you and you want to be part of the founding phase, please reach out! We’re looking for individuals with nonprofit or OCONUS experience who are passionate about making a difference. DM me directly—I’d love to connect and collaborate. Let’s make a change together! #MilitarySpouse #OCONUSLiving #Nonprofit #CommunitySupport #Empowerment

Thursday Thoughts: I am a couple of generations removed from the Greatest Generation who defeated Hitler and saved us all from his tyranny. But there a few ideals, common by necessity, during that era that I aim to personally and professionally hold myself accountable to. I can thank my father Reverend Frank Gray Sr (My first Pastor, Vietnam war veteran, honorably discharged from the USAF) for passing these along to me at a young age. Today, I’d like to focus on one: • Service Is Its Own Reward A culture can win or lose its humanity with the emphasis or de-empahsis of a prime cultural principle. Service Is Its Own Reward is one of those, in my humble estimation. In today’s world, dominated by a philosophy of fringe benefits and quid pro quo, this means we need to remphasize the value of self-sacrifice. We need to elevate the underfunded yet essential programs, the underpaid yet critical staff, the “routine” poverty-centric intervention strategies that are ever present in all of our planning cycles. Let’s remind ourselves why we choose to serve, and for whom our service is needed. Let’s develop opportunities to make the work more fulfilling so that service indeed, once again, becomes its own reward. Let’s celebrate our unsung and unseen heroes and heroines who live by this prime principle each day. Without them, non of our organizations would be in business. #charity #philanthropy #service #community
