In this session, we are going to focus on what complexity means for the individual - resilience, working with heart-mind, buried patterns/complexes, the value of authenticity. I'll build on my explorations of brain science, somatic work, trauma and my training (a long time ago) in Gestalt psychology.

Media Training: Lessons from the Kenneth Copeland Interview In 2019, televangelist Kenneth Copeland was interviewed by Inside Edition correspondent Lisa Guerrero, where he was questioned about his use of a private jet, his extravagant lifestyle, and transparency with his donors. It’s clear that the Gospel Preacher was uncomfortable, defensive, evasive, and irritated during the interaction. This presents a great opportunity to analyze how, from a Media Training perspective, this situation could have been better handled: Stay Calm and Composed: Staying calm is paramount. This helps avoid any perception of guilt or defensiveness. Acknowledge the Question, Then Reframe: Acknowledge the journalist's question, then pivot to a pre-planned, positive message. Have Clear, Concise Messaging: Stick to simple, clear talking points. For example: "The aircraft allows us to reach remote areas, conduct humanitarian efforts, and spread the gospel effectively..." Use Empathy: Show understanding of the audience’s concerns and connect with them emotionally. Avoid Confrontation: Rather than reacting emotionally, Copeland could have focused on de-escalation. Prepare for Difficult Questions: It’s critical to anticipate tough questions and have clear, prepared responses. Maintain Transparency: Transparency is crucial. Copeland should have explained the use of the jet clearly and how it benefits his ministry’s work. This interview provides a strong case study on how to handle challenging media interactions with confidence and clarity. https://lnkd.in/gNsKb6qp #MediaTraining #CrisisManagement #CommunicationSkills #PublicRelations #Leadership #Transparency #Empathy

NEW INTERVIEW ALERT!! 🎤 🎤 🎤 On public speaking: “It gave me the ability to chat openly, and I use the word chat purposefully because I think too often when we get on stage, we use a formality, a person that isn't us, and what people really want to see is an authentic person that's talking to them. We forget that the purpose of talking on a stage is not talking to an audience, it's talking to an individual in the room...You want them to think, oh, that is really important or really interesting to me as an individual. If you look at the audience as a monolith and not think about the individuals that are in the room, then I think you lose that ability to chat with them and have a little bit of a one on one. So that's one of the tricks I use.” Dina Belon, President, Staypineapple Watch Now: https://lnkd.in/e_MqpWcm Listen Now: https://lnkd.in/eWWrC3pT Dina discusses with Rachel Humphrey of It's Personal Stories, A Hospitality Podcast how her interest in sustainability and a deep dive into it ended up being a pivotal moment in her career journey. She talks about advocating for yourself, having confidence, and seeking out mentors and allies who believe in you. Dina shares her strategies for public speaking, her personal mantra, her advice to her younger self, and why you should lead like a girl. #hospitalityindustry #empoweringpersonalsuccess
