Check out this article on changes planned for CANARY WHARF - CWG’s leadership has spelt out a vision for the estate as a fully fledged neighbourhood with a mix of restaurants, parks, shopping, sports facilities, homes and workspaces for a range of businesses. Mulqueen said the negative perception from some of Canary Wharf as “an unwelcoming and very secure fortress for financial services” was “outdated and uninformed” Architects Kohn Pedersen Fox won a contest to reimagine the designs that take chunks out of the facade to create new terraces and sections that will be easier to lease to a range of smaller tenants. These could be offices, or possibly a hotel or university, alongside shops, restaurants and entertainment venues. Another building, One Canada Square, hosts a mix of offices for financial services, start-ups, co-working and education groups. Tenants include Brookfield and University College London. #London #CanaryWharf #office #realestate #design #construction

Our Design Director, Dave Hughes, was a guest on Inside Property Development podcast with Paul Higgs MRICS sharing his candid and direct thoughts on a range of topics including: Why do most architects talk in a way that is nonsense Should we have planning committee training and Ofsted style inspections of them To deliver modular housing successfully we need to fundamentally change the way we procure construction Why bureaucracy and inaction in Local Government is preventing the delivery of housing If it is a housing crisis then lets have a crisis level response and not just tinker at the edges https://lnkd.in/e2MEpf9h

📉 A recent study by NYC and Mastercard reveals that sidewalk sheds and scaffolding have a significant negative impact on businesses, especially bars and restaurants. These structures, while essential for safety, often linger for extended periods, leading to reduced foot traffic and sales. 🍽️ Key Findings: Businesses under sheds see a monthly revenue drop between $3,900 and $9,500. Restaurants and bars report a 3.5% to 9.7% decrease in weekly transactions after shed construction. 🏙️ Mayor Adams' "Get Sheds Down" plan aims to address these issues by: Implementing new regulations and penalties to expedite building repairs. Reducing the duration of sidewalk shed permits. Enhancing the design and lighting of necessary sheds. 🤝 Small business owners, NYC residents, and building owners—don't let sidewalk sheds hurt your bottom line. Let's work together to create safer, more vibrant streetscapes. 🔗 Learn more about how we can help you resolve these issues https://lnkd.in/eBtRZUMC #NYC #SmallBusiness #UrbanDevelopment #CommunityFirst #GetShedsDown
