💡 October trends in the market I have seen 💡 Trends I have been seeing in Japan market recently: 🌍 Overseas hiring - overseas hiring have been tough and many companies are trying to focus on candidates in Japan if possible. Currently Visa is taking about 5-6 months for candidates, so if you are overseas and planning to move to Japan. Please note it is quite competitive market now, and companies are very selective on who they hire from overseas. If you are junior with 2-3 years experience, it may be difficult to get a job in Japan right now. 📋 Roles - Backend engineer is still the most wanted! Golang, Python and Node.js is the main focus. There are still English only roles, but majority of the position do want people with conversational (JLPT N3) at least and located in Japan. I have seen many companies struggle with the hiring, so they have slowly lower the Japanese requirements, do hope this continues in the upcoming month. Other interesting roles opening up again are: Data Analyst, QA engineers, ML Engineer (LLM) main, SRE/DevOps. A bit of a drop on frontend and mobile engineer roles though. 💻 Remote Work - is continually to drop for sure. It is really hard to find a full remote work company, especially English only in Japan now. With Amazon back to office announcement, I have actually seen a couple more companies preparing to announcement more days to the office in the next 2-3 months. Japan is slowly moving to more office focus I think. In return because of this, many more candidates in the market have started to open up and look for opportunities again, especially for remote work. 💴 Salary - Most companies for Senior roles still capping around 14-15M Max for english only. If you have Japanese proficiency, then we can reach higher to 18-20M at least. So language skills is still being a cap in reaching higher salary number, but also the Japan market is not doing as amazing yet, but still better than most countries overseas in my opinion. I think there is more stability and job security in Japan. ⭐ Linkedin - I have begun to see #LinkedinJapan influence and many japanese people are starting to become more proactive in posting on #Linkedin, sharing their career updates, opinions and success which is great. LinkedinJapan have been reaching out to students at universities as well to increase Linkedin usage and awareness which is great. Hopefully this will bring a new surge of talents in Japan onto the platform. Love to get chance to speak with Linkedin Japan about their recent strategy and approach in the future. It is interesting to see how Japan is still a market with lots of roles but shortage of candidates. While Canada is actually too many candidates but not enough roles. Many of my connections from other agencies and agents have mentioned it has been a lot harder to get offers and placements lately as well. 🤔 Again this is all based on my perspective. #Tokyo #japan #recruitment #consultant #eho #myperspective
