🌟 **Faith, Determination, and Grace in the Face of Uncertainty** 🌟 Last week, many received the difficult news that roles would be eliminated due to company layoffs. While this announcement has brought a wave of emotions, I am reminded of the importance of faith and resilience during turbulent times. In moments like these, it's easy to feel overwhelmed, but I choose to embrace grace. I continue to show up for my team knowing who really is in control -- providing support and guidance as they navigate their own paths. Although I may not have all the answers, my commitment to my direct reports remains unwavering. We pray, press, and praise our way through this challenge, leaning on one another and finding strength in our shared experiences. This journey may be uncertain, but I believe it is also an opportunity for growth and reflection. To my colleagues, I encourage you to find your strength and stay connected. Together, we can navigate these waters with grace and determination. #DEI #Faith #Resilience #Leadership #TeamSupport #ServantLeadership #GraceUnderPressure

I’ve never been more grateful to experience the power of community. As many of you in my network know and some of you have experienced yourselves, the last couple of years has been one of the most challenging markets we’ve seen for Talent Acquisition professionals. I am one of the countless experienced individuals who were impacted by this market. I am not going to lie, at times it was brutal but the encouragement and support of so many in my network has truly kept me going. Thank each of you for offering up your time to brainstorm, strategize, vent, share your connections, or just catch up. That support has truly made a difference. I've worked hard to make the most of this new chapter and not let my own experience of being let go in 2023 drive the narrative. It’s provided a reset, and certainly changed me for the better, allowing me to grow into a stronger and more resilient person. Thank you to my amazing Coach, Tiffany Greene, ACC, whose work with me was incredibly impactful, and helped me to stay true to my own north star - my purpose and values as a talent acquisition trailblazer. I’m so grateful that the universe connected us! I also got to work with one of my favorite people this year, A Schoolderman, my new friend MacKenzie Totzke, MBA, SHRM-CP, as well as a world class team (Danielle Claggett, Christin Wolff, Leticia Corona, Lisa Zier, Sean Hassell) while hiring in a very unique situation for a spin-off at Edwards Lifesciences. What an amazing and special experience it was! This last year has also reminded me that while job markets can be challenging such as this one, it’s also an opportunity for each of us to be more creative and thoughtful as the natural relationship builders we are in TA. Leaning into those networks should be a best practice versus something reserved for when we need to. Thank you to all those who helped me along the way. Your time, continued support and willingness to help me make connections will not be forgotten. It’s also inspired me to continue to pay it forward. #Layoff #TalentAcquisition #Leadership #executiverecruiting #Networking #Inspiration

📢 Webinar: Transforming obstacles into opportunities. 📅 Tuesday, September 10, 11:00AM PT 🙋♂️ RSVP Link in the comment. Thank you, Tey Young, CMP, CTSM (TBD), for the invite. I'm looking forward to joining Wendy Porter tomorrow for this meaningful conversation. It's always hard to talk about layoffs or job transitions. Although everyone tells you to stay positive, the reality is that it's not that easy. In the last 15 years alone, our profession has encountered constant change and challenges: organizations have downsized, resulting in job layoffs; the great recession and Covid annihilated 3+ years of in-person events; living in the historically high housing market (every city), new talent accept jobs that pay barely enough for job security; seasoned professionals are let go and overlooked in favour of less expensive, inexperienced workers. List goes on. But this conversation isn't about doom and gloom. It's about resiliency and preparation. It's going to be an engaging discussion. Hope you can join us! #eventprofs

While I cannot pretend to know better, or the difficulty of the choice, massive respect to an entrepreuner who stands by long term investments in his People. Bootstraping gives enormous freedom to make bold, right and appropriate choices. Instead of relying on line-item level profitability, the luxury of having a vision, and a bigger breathing room must not be squandered to constipated old school idealogies. If a CEO has to prove themselves every quarter on performance, what kind of culture can one even set? If brands built on trust and 'grassroot level connections' make such moves when there's leeway, how will they recover from the Trust-Deficit? In Today's Market, Yesterday's Management techniques will be obsolete for Tomorrow's Workforce. Here's to more sensible times.

Question for my talent scout and recruiter connections out there. How do you navigate two consecutive positions where you lost your position through no fault of your own. Backstory- Most recent position, Director level, 3.5 years excelling in the role, presenting at national conferences on behalf of your organization. Company restructured, entire team laid off. Position before that, Regional operations manager for COVID response. Excelling at penetrating markets where health disparities exist and providing care where it isn’t readily accessible. Company adjusts to an entirely different business strategy. Entire Operations DIVISION laid off (900 plus). As a loyal team member, prior to that I served in the military for 12 years until my physical limitations made it no longer tenable. How do you mitigate these unexpected interruptions in employment successfully?

The End of an Era: What 11 Years Taught Me About Growth and Change. Today marks the end of a deeply meaningful chapter in my life—a chapter filled with creativity, collaboration, and purpose. After 11 incredible years, my time at ViX/TelevisaUnivision has come to a close. Like many of my talented colleagues, I was impacted by the recent layoffs, and while this transition brings its challenges, I’m choosing to embrace this space in between as an opportunity. Reflecting on the journey, I feel immense gratitude for the relationships built, the stories told, and the incredible team that inspired me every step of the way. Together, we created something truly special—work that will continue to connect and resonate with audiences for years to come. This moment reminds me of the importance of community. To my colleagues and friends navigating this uncertainty: we are not alone. Let’s support each other, share opportunities, and keep moving forward with hope and resilience. As I step into this new chapter, I’m excited to explore fresh opportunities to create, collaborate, and innovate. If you’re working on something impactful or simply want to connect, I’d love to hear from you. Here’s to embracing the spaces in between and creating something extraordinary from them. #Growth #NewBeginnings #SupportEachOther #Innovation #Gratitude #Leadership #CareerTransition #Resilience #Opportunity #CareerJourney #CreativeLeadership

💚 💚 💚 I am #delighted and #thankful on this Thursday to announce that I have accepted an offer, and my green banner has been taken down. 💚 💚 💚 Special shoutout to my network and trusted advisors that continually kept me in their prayers, continually kept me abreast of new opportunities and who paved the way and made key introductions to new contacts for me during this journey. If I missed anyone, charge it to my head and not my heart! 💜 Infinite shoutout and praise always goes to my parents Debbie Fitzgerald PhD, RN, CNE and Darrell Fitzgerald for paving the way and providing a strong foundation and platform for myself and my siblings💖 And last but not least - shout out to #God. My God is an AWESOME GOD and he has never left or forsaken me!!! He gives us exactly what we need, when we NEED IT!!! 🙏 #OnTimeGOD Some tips and words of encouragement to my peers and my network who were impacted by layoffs and are still on the hunt for your next opportunity, I encourage you to: ⭐ 1. Keep the Faith - God didn't bring us to this to not get us through this! ⭐ 2. Lean on your Network - People truly care for you and want to see you win! Continue to nurture these relationships and constantly build new ones. ⭐ 3. Stay Diligent - remember, God helps those who help themselves! ⭐ 4. Stay POSITIVE - a better ATTITUDE can more quickly yield you a better OUTCOME. ⭐ 5.PAY IT FORWARD! - Don't forget the feelings YOU had when you were in this boat/impacted by a layoff. Use your influence to advocate for better processes and to open doors for others. I will hold true to my tradition of not revealing my new role until I have officially started, but I will leave you with a bible verse (my favorite one), that has gotten me through numerous unprecedented times. Proverbs 3: 5-6 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge HIM, and HE shall direct your paths!!! #amen 🙏 I am praying for each of you, and I am confident that your blessings will come! ✨ #newbeginnings #onwardandupward #thankfulthursdays #greentagremoved #staypositive #payitforward

It’s disheartening to see many individuals now facing uncertainty, especially from a company that frequently describes its workforce as kudumba, meaning “family.” While I fully understand that Freshworks is a business, not a charity, using such personal language feels misaligned when actions don’t fully reflect that sentiment during difficult times. Mr. Vembu’s recent post, along with the questions raised to leadership, is a significant moment, bringing necessary attention to the impact and reasoning behind these layoffs. It’s a reminder to all of us to look beyond words and evaluate the true alignment between company values and actions.

Mrs. Jane would often cry each time the company she worked for brought out the promotion list and her name wasn't there. She felt cheated and would often promise herself to resign soon. She tried her best to show up early despite having to drop the kids off at school every morning and often spent late nights at work. Despite all this, she never got promoted. “No way! These people are just wicked,” she’d say. What Mrs. Jane didn't know was that there were certain qualities that qualified employees for promotion, and she never paid attention to them. 1. You Must Regularly Upskill: Yes! You got the job you desperately desired, and of course, your certificate, experience, and skills brought you there. But guess what? The same skill or level of skill isn't going to take you higher. 3. Be Passionate About Teamwork: Companies are often in search of employees who know how to work best in a team. They seek employees who are big on collaboration to enable them to achieve their goals. Don't always be an island. Go big on collaboration with team members and other departments. 4. Be Current with Technology: Did you hear about the many layoffs that have taken place in recent times, all because of AI? Don't shut down on industry changes. 5. Avoid Being a Doormat: Are you good at something? Speak up! Do you attend work meetings? Speak up! Do you do your job so well that someone else takes the credit? Speak up! Don't be a walkover employee despite working so hard. Today, begin by incorporating these habits into your work, and in no distant time, you'll reap the benefits in a hundredfold. Have a fantastic week and don't forget to send this to your friend or group of friends. I'd love to read your comments below. Don't forget to drop me one. PriscaTee posts Work Articles every Monday.
