I started a studio and grew it to $180k / month in less than 60 days ⚡ If I was to start over here’s some things I’d do differently: 1 - Focus on my niche (web3 & AI) Spreading reach too far results in getting a small drop of interest in all rather than a huge splash in one. 💦 - 2 - Better due diligence I like to see the best in people and looked past some red flags when hiring. This was wrong. It lead to hires that didn’t hit my quality bar and damaged my reputation along the way. 💀 - 3 - Know your worth and price accordingly I took on multiple clients at around $9k / mo and quickly realised that the cost of seniors wasn't leaving me with significant profit. The market was demanding more. So I raised my packages to $18k / mo. This lead to less, but higher quality clients. 💎 - 4 - Consistently grow your online presence When I picked up 13 active clients and needed to go heads down and deliver. This was needed but resulted in less inbound leads. Churn caught up with me and I was faced with a sudden completion of existing projects and a need to bring in more. 📢 - There’s so much to learn in this journey but it’s been the best decision I’ve made. 😍 ⚡ 🚀

🚫 STOP HIRING before you have systems in place. You need SYSTEMS before you need a team. Because hiring is not going to fix your agency if you don’t have systems in place. Here’s the thing, systems are not just tech. Systems are the method that you follow to make things flow. ✦ They are your finances—how you’re deciding to budget so you don’t overspend. ✦ They are your content—how often you’re posting and how you’re creating content so you can be consistent. ✦ They are your onboarding—how your bringing new clients on with ease. ✦ They are your daily tasks—how you’re spending each day and what you’re choosing to do for yourself. Systems are what make or break a business. And if your business behind the scenes is a complete mess, hiring a VA, a social media manager, or anyone else, is not going to fix that. You need the systems and processes for people to actually follow and allow them to perform their jobs smoothly to ensure the best outcome, otherwise, it probably is just gonna blow up. 💣 Sooo, if you don’t have systems yet, take a pause on expanding and focus on getting systems set up first! Have you had any trouble hiring especially before you had systems in place? Meet the Outposter Team #2 - Arnold Kitching ! Name: Arnold Kitching Role: Business Account Manager How long have you been with Outposter? 2 years If you could switch roles with anyone in the company for a day, who would it be and why? Anyone from our recruitment team. I believe it would be quite fulfilling helping others find their ideal role. I imagine you would feel some sort of buzz 🐝 when successfully placing an applicant 🙌🏻 . It would be an interesting and different perspective, they have the opportunity to connect with the candidates, whereas, in my current role I connect with the clients. Favourite thing to do outside of Work? My favourite thing to do outside of work is to socialise with mates. It doesn't matter if we're catching up at a bar, meeting at the gym 💪🏻 , or watching the footy ⚽ . One tip for a company thinking about Outsourcing? Start off with outsourcing the repetitive tasks that consume a lot of your time. Some great examples would be data entry , managing emails 📩 , or processing documents 🗂 . The goal is to give you your time back, allowing you to focus 🔬 on other aspects of your business. #outposter #hiring #remotehiring #startupaus Bel Soria Ben Pullen

Yesterday I had a customer yell at me because it took us 2 days to get back to him 🙃 He wanted to signup up for our annual subscription but said he needed to “talk” with someone first to ensure we are a real company. Building a well-known brand is hard when you are just starting out 😢 I gently explained to him that we are an early-stage startup and are making sure that we “never go out of business”. So rather than aggressively hiring employees as we scale into 10,000+ customers, we are still only 3 full-time employees. This is a lesson I learned from Henry Ward in the early days at Carta. Henry told us that the perfect business is a computer connected to the internet and every single employee after that is overhead, starting with the founders. This really stuck with me and I truly believe that hiring is not a success metric, but really a failure. You are forced to hire when you fail to automate. With that said, after getting yelled at for 10+ minutes yesterday, I think it’s safe to say we’ve failed and are forced to hire our first customer success rep 🤠 We are looking for someone early career (1-3 years experience). Our ideal candidate will be highly organized, great with customers, and motivated to build an enduring business. Our mission is simple: to help every single American protect their home or business with a living trust. If you know anyone that would be a good fit, please tag them below 🙏

Hiring A-players in the early days is hard. But being cheap is expensive. Juniors just don't know how to take you to the next level. They've never done it before so why put people in seats only to have to hold their hand? It’s like letting my 8-year-old son pick me up from Heathrow Airport. As much as I love him… I’d rather a taxi pick me up because they know London inside and out. When you hire A-players… You hire someone who knows how to get where you want to go. But juniors often sit there and wait for YOU to guide them. Which takes you away from leading your business… And missed opportunities. Instead, you want to let the expert take the lead and follow them. So where do you start? If your SaaS has hit a growth ceiling and you’re getting lots of things right but you haven’t quite cracked marketing… The first step is to get some marketing leadership to help dial in your marketing strategy. Because it requires NO extra people. Just better marketing. Lead gen gives you more MRR to play with and hire the A-players. So you don’t have to worry about the budget. And once you build a self-managing, high-performing team… That’s when you’ll see your growth ignite. #marketingleadership #marketingstrategy #cmo #aplayers #b2bsaas

We're hiring! for support at Beacons. This may seem like an entry-level job. And it is. But I have secret plans to level up this person. I'm of the opinion that there's no better way to break into product and tech - and all the privileges this confers - than to do support for a quickly growing startup of a certain size. In fact, our previous two entry level support hires are now basically PMs (s/o Ben Woytowich + Kathleen Tung), which is why we are hiring. Doing product in tech usually means you're a highly educated Ivy-leagued blue chipper or supreme technical skillset or experience. But in fact, I'm of the opinion that every tech company needs someone with the perspective and mindset of a user to discover and execute a product that actually works for their users. Nothing makes me happier than to break in smart, ambitious gritty young folks into tech/product who didn't otherwise have access to an industry that touches us all. Send me your ambitious folks who need the break! Meritocracy!! https://lnkd.in/gVGnAC9R

In the past 90 days, I’ve made 4 critical hires for ScaleMyAgency. Here’s the positions I hired for and the why behind them 👇🏼 1st hire | Project Coordinator We’re growing. Fast. Averaging about 3 clients per month right now. Some of our buildouts take up quite a bit of time. I needed to bring someone in who can help scope projects + build out their infrastructure for me. This has saved me hours and hours of work every single week so I can focus more on sales. Absolute game changer. 2nd hire | Director of Operations With some things we have on the roadmap, I needed someone who was good at running operations. This is arguably my biggest weakness. I hate operations 😂 The amount of tedious work and organization and structuring things has been quite a lot. Solid hire here as well. 3rd hire | Email Marketing Specialist Were pushing around 100-120k emails per month right now. Managing inboxes, replies, setting up campaigns, it’s a lot of work at this volume. It made sense to bring someone in who I could closely work with to make sure we’re getting as much juice out of every squeeze possible. 4th hire | Sales Development Representative This is our newest hire. Inbound leads are picking up. Outbound efforts are picking up. Finding someone who’s solid on the phones and has great communication skills is crucial. Pair it up with our offers that we’re pushing… it only made sense to find someone who’s a hunter. P.S. If your agency is looking to find talent, comment below and I can help point you in the right direction as to how I’m able to find great people!
