As the #WorldWaterForum continues in Bali this week, SHF continues to advocate for greater prominence and investment in #sanitation, #hygiene and #menstrualhealth through our virtual attendance and partners. As stated by our Executive Director Dominic O' Neill in the remarks to the session on the #OneWaterSummit, "sanitation, hygiene, menstrual health and wastewater management go to the core of achieving #climateresilience, #genderequality and a whole raft of other Sustainable Development Goals #SDGs including better #health and #education. [It is time to] bring the best thinking and lessons learnt on sustainable development finance into a sector which has been woefully neglected and has not yet not benefited from the financial innovations that are now driving impact and investment in other sectors." To learn more about how SHF is working toward driving this much-needed financing toward vibrant, climate-resilient #sanitationeconomies and #MHHmarkets, visit www.shfund.org

World Food Day reminds us that the right to food is not just a necessity but a fundamental right for a better, more equitable future. Rizq is committed to addressing hunger at its root. By empowering small farmers with sustainable practices, rescuing surplus food, and ensuring it reaches those in need, we work across the entire food cycle from farm to fork. We believe that food is the foundation of a thriving society, and no one should be left behind in the fight against hunger. As we observe World Food Day, we reflect on the global hunger crisis that deprives millions of their dignity, growth, and potential. We stand for a future where no one is left behind. Together, we can ensure that everyone has access to the food they need to unlock their full potential. #WorldFoodDay #EndHunger #RightToFood #Rizq #HungerFreePakistan #EmpowerPakistan #EndFoodWaste #TogetherWeCan

There are fundamental changes needed in our food supply chain today, and it all begins with small farmers—the hands that feed us. Supporting them, from choosing what to grow and how to grow it to providing the assistance they need, is crucial. Healthy food leads to a healthier society and a more sustainable planet. There’s so much we can do to empower farmers, and that’s exactly what Esipick is helping Rizq achieve. Together, we’re working to amplify their positive impact and make a real difference, more efficiently. #AgriTech #FoodInsecurity #SocialImpact #RightToFood #BetterLife #BrighterFuture #FarmToFork #SmallFarmers #SustainableAgriculture #WorldFoodDay #SupportFarmers #HealthySoilHealthyLife #ClimateSmartAgriculture #ZeroHunger #FutureOfFood

Pleased to share this preliminary report exploring the current and potential role faith-based organizations (FBOs) can play in addressing food loss and waste (FLW) as a contribution to Rwanda's journey towards national food security and sustainability. FBOs own and manage a range of institutions, including schools and hospitals, that intersect with the food services sector and are essential for nourishing communities. Further, religious values have a documented influence over attitudes and behaviors toward food consumption and food waste. This work is among the first of its kind to understand the institutional role of FBOs in reducing FLW. #faithclimateaction #foodjustice #climatejustice #foodwaste #sustfoodfuture
🎉 New report alert! Faith-based organizations have a crucial role to play in reducing #food loss & waste. This World Resources Institute's working paper examines current food loss and waste efforts led by faith-based organizations (FBOs) in #Rwanda, which manage 30 percent of the nation’s health facilities and 75 percent of schools—sectors that are considerably engaged in food systems. The paper also looks at the barriers and opportunities to make progress and how FBO action might contribute to national food loss and waste reduction targets. It provides a set of recommendations to support FBOs in contributing to Rwanda’s food system sustainability goals. 📖 Read the report here ➡️ https://lnkd.in/ec4YuSXg Kudos to the autors - Sophia Sanniti, Jules Kazungu, Carrick Reddin, Eric Ruzigamanzi, Brian Lipinski and Dr. James Wangu. World Toilet Day 2024: Toilets – A Place for Peace On 19 November 2024, Uganda joins the global community in commemorating World Toilet Day under the theme Toilets A Place for Peace. This United Nations Observance highlights the critical role of safe sanitation in building a healthier, fairer, and more peaceful world. Globally, 3.5 billion people lack safely managed sanitation, with 419 million still practising open defecation. This year’s campaign focuses on the threats to sanitation posed by conflict, climate change, disasters, and neglect. When sanitation systems fail, untreated waste pollutes the environment, spreading deadly diseases like cholera and endangering public health. Governments, stakeholders, and communities are urged to prioritize resilient and accessible sanitation services for everyone. Greater investment and stronger governance are vital to achieving ‘Safe Toilets for All by 2030,’ a key target of Sustainable Development Goal 6. As GrowthAid we implore everyone to take action to secure safe sanitation for all and create a future where toilets are truly places of peace. #WorldToiletDay2024
