We thoroughly enjoyed attending 3Search event this morning all about The Future of Placemaking, at the The Royal Air Force Club, hosted by Charlotte Titmuss. We heard from Achelle Hill at Lendlease, Karen Baines FCIM at The Crown Estate and Rose Wangen-Jones from London & Partners: Europe Some of the key themes which came up were: 🔸 The consumer doesn't care who owns a building. They care about how it makes them feel. 🔹 Always start with research - who are you creating it for and what do they want. Success lives or dies based on this. 🔸The amount of choices for consumers is overwhelming - we're competing so hard for not only money, but time, attention and footfall. So it's critical to create an emotional connection between your customer and your place to keep them coming back and become your advocates. 🔹 Tech needs to enable these connections because people need ease of navigating, mobility etc - these are imperatives if we're going to change the perception that London isn't welcoming(!) 🔸Collaborate to compete - The importance of partnerships & using them to leverage mutual benefits in sharing resource, costs, marketing and awareness. 🔹 Partner with consumer brands who have a loyal following. The landlord can't do everything so bring people in to support your team. 🔸Content creation has to be authentic. Take customers on your journey and you'll improve relationships, perceptions and connections. 🔹 Measurement & ROI - It is so important to try and capture this as much as possible but it's very hard to measure some of the community aspects of placemaking and social value. 🔸Test & Learn - not everything you trial is going to be right, but you'll never know until you try, so don't be afraid to! #whatsthebuzz #wheresthebuzz #flexiblemarketingresource #realestate #propertymarketing
