"The number one thing that we generally try to hire for is, can this person figure it out?" Building a successful team is all about finding those who can thrive in uncertainty and solve problems creatively. Key takeaways from Sief K.'s insights: - HIRE FOR PROBLEM-SOLVING ABILITY: Look for candidates who can navigate uncharted territories and figure things out, even without a rule book. - BALANCE STRENGTHS AND NEEDS: Founders should be flexible, working on both their strengths and immediate business needs. - PRIORITIZE CRITICAL ROLES EARLY: In this case, ensuring finance-related positions were filled first was vital. - PASSION OVER SPECIFIC SKILLS: Seek out passionate individuals who fit your culture and have the curiosity and grit to succeed. I’m not a big fan of optimizing for safety when making career choices, because I think safety is a mirage You can analyze the risk vs reward for startups vs big companies all day long… But you don’t have a ton of control on day 1 as to whether you get laid off or the company goes bust A better question to ask... “Where can I create such a big impact that I’m indispensable?” That’s how you create “safety” ____ Ep. 37 of The Work Flow Podcast is out, and we analyze the differences between big and small companies. Safety, in my humble opinion, don’t matter much 😉
