In the previous two articles, we discussed how startups are standardizing the student housing segment. For example, citynect - Flatmates & Roommates a flatmate finder app, allows you to connect directly with owners without brokers by charging membership fees. We also learned about the co-living segment, such as your-space. Today, let's understand how the co-living sector works. But before we delve into co-living, let's revisit the concept of a sharing economy. In earlier articles, we discussed backpacker hotels and why people prefer this category due to the sense of community. The same principle applies to the co-living category. Unlike a PG system, people choose co-living because of the community aspect. In a PG, you have separate pricing for different amenities, such as rent, electricity, cooking, and housemaid charges. In co-living, you receive a consolidated bill that combines all these categories. There's also a system in place for managing these amenities. Co-living offers a combination of multiple beds, creating a community of Gen Z and millennials. You can learn a lot about them during your journey.
