Pulse Consult is proud to support Walsall Council in shaping Bloxwich Theatre's future, ensuring community voices guide its transformation into a vibrant cultural hub. Community engagement is crucial for the Council's plans to redevelop Bloxwich Theatre because it ensures the project reflects the needs, aspirations, and values of the people it is designed to serve. By involving local residents, stakeholders, and community groups early in the process, the Council can: Enhance Local Relevance: Understanding community preferences helps create a space that resonates with its audience, fostering a sense of ownership and pride. Boost Usage and Support: When people feel heard, they are more likely to support and use the redeveloped theatre, ensuring its long-term success. Address Specific Needs: Community insights can identify priorities like accessibility, programming, or amenities that might otherwise be overlooked. Strengthen Community Identity: The redevelopment can celebrate local culture and history, making it a hub for creative expression and social connection. Promote Transparency and Trust: Open dialogue builds trust between the Council and residents, demonstrating accountability and responsiveness to public input. At Pulse Consult, we understand the power of meaningful engagement. We've seen its impact firsthand, having delivered great results with Southwark Council on the Tustin Estate regeneration. Thrilled to share our ongoing work with Walsall Council at Bloxwich Theatre! 🎭 We’re diving into community engagement, focusing on what truly matters to the people of Bloxwich. By collaborating with a wide range of community groups, especially those whose voices often go unheard, we're shaping ideas for a future redevelopment that will add real value to this community. Some of the ideas might not drive profit, but they will bring new and meaningful opportunities for the people here—by Bloxwich, for Bloxwich. 💬💡 Looking forward to the positive impact this project will have! #CommunityFirst #BloxwichTheatre #WalsallCouncil #SocialValue #BuildingBetterFutures #CommunityEngagement #PulseConsult #InclusiveDesign #CommunityImpact #PublicSectorProjects #MakingADifference

Addressing Domestic Violence Through Forum Theatre a two year project delivered by Intercultural Roots funded by the Peabody Community Fund External Evaluation & Impact Report Year One - By Claire Burrell. The "Addressing Domestic Violence Through Forum Theatre" project, led by Intercultural Roots and funded by the Peabody Community Fund, has seen remarkable success in its first year. The workshops, expertly facilitated by Drs. Almiro Andrade and Andrea Maciel, have promoted personal growth, relational confidence, and community cohesion. As the project moves into its second year, commencing in late summer, those interested in participating should stay tuned for further information. The full evaluation and impact report by Claire Burrell, along with a related video, provides deeper insights into the project's significant achievements and future potential. ‘The report presents how the pioneering arts for health and social change organisation, Intercultural Roots, are using Forum Theatre (Boal, A.1992) to engage communities in the question; how do we live with violence? The two year project, which is funded by the Peabody Community Fund, is bringing together Peabody Housing tenants and local residents to discuss, express and explore issues of violence and conflict in their lives and local communities. At the conclusion of its first year, the report locates how the Forum Theatre workshops are creating safe spaces and holding secure boundaries for people to recall, enact and consider their subjective and collective concerns. The evaluation brings forward how this creative forum enables participants to refresh their experience of relational connectivity, promoting deeper understanding of how conflict manifests in each others lives and deepening a sense of belonging to community. The highly positive outcomes in the first year, locate how the project has successfully nurtured personal growth in the lives of participants, enhancing relational confidence, social change and the co-creation of community.’ Please read the full report: https://lnkd.in/evT6wf_9 Year 2 activities in London starting around Aug / Sept '24 - call out coming soon... #theatre #theater #performance #socialchange #forumtheatre #communitytheatre #participatorytheatre #theatreoftheoppressed #Boal #acting #actor #theatrelife #art #artsforchange #education #activism #advocacy #socialjustice #creativity #mentalhealth

Alex shared this article with me and my wheels have been spinning ever since. Live theatre, music, dance, and story-telling have nothing but positive impact on us, but the post-pandemic economics for nonprofit theatres are more challenging than ever. How do you balance financial health and accessibility? Philanthropy? Public support? Those don't often come with a reliability that feels like standing on solid ground, but maybe I'm sure, like all things, it's a combination of things - a sustainable business model, philanthropy, and public investment. What I know for sure is that we are better when we have the joy and inspiration of the arts, and our communities are healthier when we ensure that those experiences are available to everyone. https://lnkd.in/g8EVFqDp

👏 What an inspiring and timely manifesto by Joe Lycett for the Sky Arts Awards, which so perfectly resonates with our own mission at Paintings in Hospitals 👏 As Sheridan Russell envisioned over 65 years ago, the arts have the ability to heal, transform, and uplift those who need it most. Today, we continue to see this in action—from hospitals to care homes, libraries to refugee centres—the impact of creativity on health and wellbeing is undeniable. Joe's call to reinvigorate the arts sector couldn’t be more relevant. In healthcare, we have witnessed firsthand the positive outcomes when art is placed at the heart of patient care. Our experience has shown that art’s value lies not simply in its intrinsic beauty but in its ability to connect, heal, and inspire. From a consultant finding solace in a hospital canteen, to care home residents experiencing the joy of art galleries for the first time, the stories of impact are endless—and moving. The manifesto’s emphasis on collaboration, sustainable funding, and cross-sector partnerships is key. As highlighted by the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Arts, Health, and Wellbeing, the infrastructure to support creative health is urgently needed. Long-term investment—not short-term projects—will be essential for the future of creative health. Together, we can ensure that art and creativity remain not just an aesthetic choice, but a fundamental part of a healthier society.
