What was the first rock song you ever heard? For me it was Fly Like An Eagle. He raises the questions we have to ask In this first ever performance he presents the questions a little differently than the record. “What about the children. With no shoes on their feet/ what about the people livin in the streets/ what about the babies who don’t have enough to eat./ what about the revolution” So I ask you the same thing now 51 years later as we emotionally dispose of those in the street. We come up with excuses to let children starve because of a political ideology about their parents work ethic and an outdated paradigm of human motivation. Are we hearing the hungry children? Do we actually see the people in the street? Or are we seeing what we want to see to prove that “ working hard is the antidote”. Or as we choke back those beers and justify it with “ I’m not in a tent” I think we see what we want to see. That why we have yet to see the revolution where when people fall down we pick them up as we would want for ourselves, for our children. We have yet to see how we can and will prevent our youth from falling repeatedly into this cycle of housing instability. So what about the people who need help and are left to fall through the cracks? I’m ready for the revolution. It starts today as we make life beyond today better and hear this call to action that is over 50 years old. #activism #letsconnect #networking #homelessness #housinginsecurity
